Butch says it takes 6 to 7 years to build a program in the SEC

I remember addressing one of your manifestos on that...saying I was confident that Butch would take everything in consideration and adjust. We were BOTH right! :w00t:

I even said that it was something he would make adjustments to account for. That wasn't good enough for folks like your boy Readervol... Just suggesting that Jones has done something less than perfect offends a certain segment of this board.

I know...it's always the "other ones" huh buddy?
I've been on this board 10 years now. The number of people who have admitted they were wrong here about anything of substance in my time are very few. I've admitted being wrong on several occasions on both opinions and facts. I don't come to opinions lightly or without considering the facts to the best of my ability. So it takes a good argument or proof for me to give in. But I have been wrong... and have had the same screen name for my whole time here.

I can't recall you ever admitting a mistake or recognizing yourself in any of your "cutesy" comments... Maybe you can tell us about that time?

We are still one of the youngest teams in the country right now, starter's that is, plus the injuries when we run the table then what is the fans going to pick even saint nick blows games every year, because you know they are supposed to win them all so saint nick should be fired with the top recruiting classes every year and losing to ole miss, why dont they run saint nick out of town.:eek:lol:

The underscored--is the entire point of the discussion for me.....there's nothing--from a pure, IN-GAME coaching performance from this staff to convince us that they have the ability to beat any of the top teams in the SEC...in my opinion...YET....

It's pure speculation and hope at this time.......But, hope is a good thing......

You can recruit the best players....but Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc...etc....all recruit the best players....so--in the end--it will come down to coaching schemes and in-game decisions....

And--that is where CBJ and staff have failed....so far....

I'll rack my brain (and archives) to match your nonspecific mea culpas. :wink2: Oh wait! One time I responded to one of your posts with a personal jab. I apologized to you...and you never acknowledged. Other than that, I've admitted being wrong several times...I never delude myself into thinking I'm on point 24/7/365. Wouldn't be any fun. :)

The expectation at Stanford when Harbaugh got there was definitely not the National Championship. They had 5 straight losing seasons. The year before Harbaugh got there, they were 1-11. He took them from 1-11 to 12-1 in 4 years.

Well, this is TENNESSEE and the expectation is a NC. Just like in the NFL the expectation is a SB win.

If that is not the expectation, your wrong.

I don't know if Butch can do it, but so far I've seen improvements across the board. With us being so close, with so much room for improvement, and us steadily getting there, I'm still a believer. There is no room for any more blunders. Butch has got to keep taking steps in that direction, we are a year behind, due to him trying to red shirt Dobbs, that alone contributed to the losses this year, and on top of that, he tried to ice two games in the 3rd qtr.

Unacceptable ever again, his mistakes cost us this year, the good news is he has learned from it and has applied that knowledge to impact the out come of these gimme games. So finish the year strong, and see how many go pro, and win a NC in 16, or expect to be fired.

Go Vols!

I will not argue that the recruiting has been phenomenal and on field performance better than years past. I still question player development at some positions, namely OL and WR and to a lesser extent QB this year. Dobbs' passing ability has seemed to regress under DeBord from Bajakian.

I wonder if he is developing NFL stars or is he just trying to win games.

Take Caliperry at KY, he said that the number of players going to the NBA was more important to him, than a NC. I know KY, fans, and that is not how the fans feel. They would rather cheat and win, that's why they hired him.

Well at least he's the one who's correct. You keep putting multiple kids into the NBA draft early in the 1st round, you keep getting the elite of the elite to sign on the dotted line. Solid way to keep getting to the Final 4.

I guess I'm different. Win the SEC. The National Championship stuff can come after that... but there is more "substance" to winning the SEC than winning the NC. Seldom even now are the "best" teams actually in consideration for the NC by December.

Final 4, that's not the expectation. NC is the only prize.

Final 4 is beneath, KY fans. It about going undefeated NC.

I feel the same way, about the Vols, but in football.

Go Vols!

What? You say so much that makes, a lot of sense, but no, the NC is the prize, SEC is just the path.

I think the focus should be more like saying that the most he could get out of a team that wasn't the greatest was runner-up at the Super Bowl. They shouldn't have been there.

The most he could get from his team, so a better coach wins the SB?

No, he maximized the potential of all the players on his team. The best those players could do was runner-up.

Im offended by that, for them. I would bet anything, that you ask any one of them and they would tell you, that was not their best and had played a more complete game and that is why they lost, not being their best.

not sure if anyone posted this yet or not....
