I know as a fanbase we are excited about the Bowl Game victory and the top 5 recruiting classes back to back.

Yet it is just as easy to think about how we almost didn't make a bowl game, again. Or how other SEC teams are still very talented and well coached.

I don't think about that. I see.... a football program that has turned 180 degrees in a short amount of time.

When you have an All-SEC caliber linebacker like Jalen Reeves-Maybin give up his number to a guy he feels his TEAM needs. Man! That gets me pumped! The dude gets it! Kirkland won't disappoint him i think.

Evan Berry who wanted to play offense... has completely bought in to playing safety and is a future star. For the team.

Cortez McDowell, the best safety in the state of Georgia and a tremendous WR prospect as well. Moves to OLB because we needed him there.

Last year... jacob Gillian playing with a torn ACL.. are you kidding me?

This is Butch Jones culture, and I love it!

The days of the Darick Rogers, Janzen Jackson , and Tyler Bray are loooong gone! Talented players doing whatever they wantd with no accountability to themselves or their team because they knew how talented they were and felt they could get away with anything.

We have a bunch of TALENTED, selfless, big picture guys on our team now. And they're hungry!

Leader are popping up in ever class!

Seniors (Maggitt, Randolph, Howard)
Juniors (Dobbs, Sutton, JRM)
Sophomores ( Hurd, Kelly, Barnett, etc...)
Freshman (Dormady, McKeinze, Kirkland)

With every class and every season, you see the culture growing.

A championship culture!

We might not win them all, but we will win most games, and every team will respect us!

I really hope Cortez McDowell has a break out year and contributes heavy. That kid was one of my favorite recruits of that year!

GO VOLS!!!!!!

The team is also killing it in the classroom.

May you be blessed for this!

Thank you for the blessing!

I am so excited for the season. All predictions aside...I just feel incredibly confident in the current team, and the direction of the program itself.

Every game will be an exciting game. Whether we win by a lot or a little, it's going to be fun to watch our guys compete against yet another tough schedule!

We were always having to play with young guys. Well... they have stuck around and gotten a little older, stronger and smarter.

We were always struggling from lack of depth. Well... we're not that thin anymore, either.

Coaches kept coming and going. Janceck is in year 3. And Butch just hired his mentor to run the offense he created.

We're more stable, more talented, and more battle tested than we have been in a long time.

Fall Camp will be here before you know it. Then comes the best part of football next to winning; competition!!
All this new talent will compete to try and get a spot somewhere.

Camp notes every day. Some players will surprise. Some will come out of nowhere all together and create buzz and excitement.

Regardless of who wins the spots. They're all Vols, and ALL VOL!

Man oh man... :aggressive:

Well said,OP. I don't think players switching positions is an indication of a culture shift. It happens everywhere, every season. However, I do agree that the program has turned around. It appears that the long lacking leadership and unity has finally made it's way into the locker room. And so has a truck load of talent and speed.

If only Hurd would get on board and switch to TE!

Reading things in this thread makes me wish the season kickoff was this Saturday.

Man, who you telling lol!

But it'll be here soon. We still have camp and the development of the talented newcomers coming into the fold. I'm going to enjoy that.!

For once we can be excited about returning players as well as the blue chip freshman!

I'm anxious to see what guys like Chris Weatherd will do during a full fall camp. Well Berry and Kelly see time at the Nickel??
How good will Corey Vereen be now that all eyes are on Maggitt and Barnett?

Will Justin Martin be too good to keep out the starting lineup? Moseley and Foreman better get ready for a battle.

The first time I was ever compelled to start a thread was after the SC game.
IIRC, I gave it the title 'culture change'. After a few years of watching the Vols lay down and quit in the second half, It was unbelievable the "never say die" attitude we saw. There will be questions about one thing or another as long as college fb exists but the 180 degree change in attitude is undeniable.
