"Butch needs a common sense coach" -Clay Travis

Totally agree. His handling of the 4th quarter was inexusable and he's not the best X's and O's coach. However, he has coached some good games while here. Those who paint with such broad strokes that's "he's an idiot" and "couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag" aren't very bright. He's no Saban, but he's not hot garbage either. Time will tell whether he's going to fit here, but this season is just beginning.

Season is 1/3 over. Lol. Hardly the beginning..

I do not know if he does or not, but I was not talking about Butch Jone's language.

Especially using the God's name in vein btw.

You said Travis needs to "be a pro" and drop the profanity, so I guess that means you don't think Jones is a pro either. Or are you only selectively offended?

I'm pretty sure Jones has dropped some damn's and some jc's.

Excellent article. Step by step of a complete meltdown. I don't know how any rational human can argue with any of that.

You do not know that nor do I, so I can not comment on his language. I only can comment on what I hear or read as far as that goes. I know people (including myself) when angry can say things they regret, but this was written and can be edited btw.

Question is does Butch read this article or are these specific points brought to his attention so that he can hopefully improve his in game decision making process? Something or someone needs to get in his ear. He's coaching himself out of a job if this crap is going on this time next year.

Actually I do know that as does a whole lot of other people. Your selective outrage is hilarious.

Also if you constantly say things you regret when angry, that's called a pattern.

I don't care for Clay Travis at all. He just absolutely loves to stir the pot in the Big Orange nation.

With that said, he does make some valid points in the article. It certainly wasn't Butch's best job of on the field coaching. I liked his plan, but that ending was rough.

Valid observations, maybe. he is still clay travis. Id agree about Jones ability with coaching in the waning moments.

Mind boggling that with all of Butch's analytics, sleep monitoring of players, nutrition programs and overall micromanagement of every aspect of the program he doesn't know when to go for two. I seriously want him to produce the chart he claims to have that said you should kick the XP up by 12 in the 4th quarter. It doesn't exist and frankly I think Butch lies about a lot of ****. It's like listening to Trump. He will literally say anything and expect people to believe it.

Clay Travis is a douche bag and his profanity shows his immaturity. In addition, he needs to worry about his own writing since he completed screwed up this paragraph:
At this point the Vols led 20-7 midway through the third quarter and were in complete control of the game. On the second play of that drive Dobbs fumbled, which was really the only bad play Dobbs made all game. The Gators recovered. But the Vols subsequently held the Gators, and Florida was lined up for a 42 yard field goal with 6:12 remaining in the game.

Mistype. It's corrected in the version I read. A slippage of tongue doesn't render his analysis wrong.

It is hard to conceive how the human mind can give assent to such terrible ideas, or how any sane man can read this article and still believe in the doctrine of Butch.

Dale-Doe Say: Clay Travis Hit Paydirt, CBJ needs help, and old washed-up guy Debord and that guy, nor is Jancik. They both gotta hit the highway or CBJ is toast....

Except it wasn't written by one

100% was. Yes, he does try to be over the top to build his brand, but if you would have seen his immediate Periscope "presser" after the game, it was very clear where his allegiance lies. He was not smirking, or giddy, or anything of the sort. He was genuinely ticked. That reaction I saw does not fit the narrative of the guy who loves to kick the Vols while they're down.

Also saw a picture of him (I believe Eddie George tweeted it) at the end of the 2013 Georgia game, in the "loser's cobra" and looking as bewildered as anyone.

Two short examples, I know, but I think a live reaction after a tough loss is more telling than something he might, admittedly, "write for clicks," under normal circumstances.

Lastly, yes he went to Vandy law after growing up in the midstate, but that doesn't change the fact that the vast majority around Nashville grow up Vols like I did. I would have chosen Vandy law over UT law too if I could've gotten in. Wouldn't have changed a couple decades of loyalty.

Whew, didn't set out to type all that. Just gets frustrating seeing people hate him for making jokes at our expense from time to time, because he's an equal opportunity offender. He makes fun of everybody. Like another poster said though, I fear his satire and logic goes over peoples' heads usually.

Can i just say i think Tennessee will win every single game this year IF IF we go into the 4th quarter losing so that butch jones has to try and score the ball, or if we get such a big lead in first half we can set our defense down for 2nd half

Quote: "Butch Jones committed complete and total fourth quarter coaching malpractice on Saturday at Florida."

Great summary statement, and it's kind of telling that this sort of criticism comes not just from passionate UT fans....but the outside world, as well. Butch cannot escape the Pansie label he just earned for himself. The entire College Football world knows it, now.

Teams now can have confidence that no matter if they are losing late in the game, Butch will help them find a way to beat the Vols. Beliema must feel some degree of comfort in knowing his team doesn't need more talent than the Vols...he just has to outcoach Butch. A feat most FBS teams can easily accomplish.

That common-sense analysis by Travis really makes Butch look pretty damn stupid for a Head Coach. It wasn't just one questionable call, it was a bunch of bone-headed calls. Wow, and I normally ignore Clay Travis.

Lol at Butch outcoaching anyone. He outcoached his own team right out of two victories. Dooleyesque, if Dooley would have ever gotten such leads in a game. Terrible. Summed up nicely Clay, a cluster**** of epic proportions. Twice.

"It's time to stop saying a team Georgia'd a life situation. Butch Jones has Georgia beat. When his decisions mattered most and his team needed him more than ever, he wasn't up to the task -- he Butch'ed it."

These are the last 2 sentences of the piece, what is he writing about?

He said after the OU debacle that he refuses to let any negativity into the program. So, there's your answer.

Problem is, he just create a boat load of it for his players. They don't have to hear it in the media. They will naturally start tuning him, and his coach-speak out going forward, because they know he failed them...last year and this year.

I'd contend he did the VERY SAME thing his first season as the Head Coach....when Vandy came to town and Franklin outcoached him then, with a LOT less talent.
