...in the worst way.

If he can lead us to 6-6, it might prove to the impatient masses that this staff can actually coach through adversity. Accomplishing this with a a severely hamstrung offense would speak volumes on the staff's coaching ability. I know I would feel a little more comfortable.
Agree or disagree?

Agree, he's running out of time, but it's necessary.

He now has over half a roster of "his guys."

I just can't see winning 6 games with the way our offense has been playing. I agree 6-6 would be great, we'd go bowling. I'm just being realistic.

6-6 would help, but 5-7 is the ultimate threshold IMO. Many fans will bail on him if he is the first Vol coach to post 8 losses in a season.

I am behind him through next year, and probably the one after, no matter how this season plays out. I do hope he objectively reevaluates his offensive staff, though.

I'm all about being realistic.
I'm just worried that we win five games and this year's Florida game will be last year's Vandy game.

Or what? He's gonna get fired? Nothing is going to happen this year even if we go 4-8.

His job will be on the line next year regardless of what he does this year.

I guarantee Hart told Butch Jones you have 4 to 5 years to get this going when he was hired. Running out of time as you say in 1.5 years is laughable!

I guess what im saying is if you can't handle the process of recruting and building depth every year you need to find something else to do on Saturdays in the Fall!

Running out of time to get 6 wins.

His stated goal this year was to "take Tennessee to a bowl'.

Anything less than that means he failed to meet his Goal.

I'm with Butch if we win 5 or 6 games,,,,, recruiting wins,,,,,,, we will be fine in a year or 2 and everyone ready to fire him will be singing his praises then,,,,,,, if he keeps recruiting like he is, we will win weather he can coach or not ,,,,, it's happened here before ,,,,,,, GBO

Well, one thing is for sure. We will not face a better defense than we faced this week. I'm so impressed by the ole miss scheme. That fact alone made our offense better the rest of the way. Usc will be a huge game to salvage the season.

5 and 7 is what this team should be at this year. Most everyone said that would be the probable record this year. 6-6 is doable but we have to win a game that we shouldn't. Most everyone got excited after the uga game but this is not a good team and a lot of people expected that. We have competed pretty well considering the team is without a decent oline.

Still development has been there on the defensive side of the ball. Offense needs some serious attention possibly some coaching changes. Its not the record it is the lack of progress.

Yeah, what about Bama?

You see their game yesterday?

That team Bama shutout scored 20 on Ole Miss.

As I've said before, the UF game was pivotal. Had Butch and Co. won that game, all of this misery would be fit into its proper perspective. But with that loss, there is very little significant progress (in terms of W & L) that people can hang their hat on.

Even if CBJ goes 7-5, there'll be that ...."Yeah, I'm glad, but gosh,...that Florida game...WFT????" And those asking are justified in saying so.

The UF 2014 game was pivotal for CBJ - now and in the next 18 months.

I had the team finishing 6-6 since the schedule came out. I had us losing to MZ & SC before the season but after seeing them play then we can win rest of the games after Bama. The KY game worries me a little but I feel we can win at the end. Jones job is not on the line. He is aware of the lack of talent on the team when he took the job and he is slowly building depth. The way I look at the team is like starting a new company. Slowly build your business and customers. Improve each year. I know its frustrating but you got to believe. He's got o-line & QB help coming in this recruiting class & don't be surprised if he gets someone to flip to TN since he plays freshman.

6-6 keeps large majority of the fanbase calm.
Also would keep the recruiting where it needs to be.
If we miss out, I will quickly think about the UF game
and that will definately weigh on my positivity.

His job will be on the line next year regardless of what he does this year.

Has nothing to do with job stability. It's all about fan stability and support. A disgruntled fanbase tends to get vocal. This tends to light a fire under asses.
Ask Dooley.
