Butch looks uninterested/disengaged lately

Has anyone else picked up on this vibe during his press conference ? In last 2-3 weeks his intensity has been down. Looks a lot uninterested and lot less angry at press. Even when his team was winning early on, he had that intensity.
Is it that with losses, he has come to terms with a 9-3 season ? Or does anyone else have a feeling that Butch will be looking elsehwere after this season ?
If he goes 9-3 & gets to SEC CG , a lot of teams would be happy to get pick him up. There are a lot of 10-win happy good programs out there. Miami picked Mark Richt to get back to 10 wins.
I can see few programs shuffling coaches and Butch ending up at a ACC or Big 12 type programs.

I can see you ending up in surgery to remove your head from your rectum.

He is exhausted. He has been showing signs all season, but asshats like you don't notice or care until you are praying he will leave so the buyout doesn't get paid.

At least you are less obvious and slightly more pleasant with your veiled agenda, but you are just another twit that can't handle minor setbacks without demanding massive expensive change. I find that pathetic.

How about we stop palpitating over Butch's demeanor. I don't care if he's angry ... or laughing ... or quiet ... or intense ... or relaxed. Folks have commented on all these Butch moods in the past several weeks. But why?

I'm not a teenage girl, and he's not the Beetles. So I don't care how the man looks, or how his moods swing, as long as he's upholding the integrity of our program, caring for the well-being of our players and the university as a whole, and doing his level best to win games and championships.

All that comes with the job.

Easy to say when your job is a BS job and always will be.

Nobody cares if you forget to refill the cups at Burger King so no stress for you.

It's easy to point fingers and say things about people that have achieved more in half their life than you will in your full life.

To argue, but I agree with the Sandman. A first SECCG appearance for the program in 10 years...and first 10-win season in 10 years...deserves something.

However, I think there is an even chance that Butch leaves after this season. And maybe for a lesser job like Purdue or something like that. He might not be cut out for the pressure of running a program at the highest level.

We will see if all you say actually happens but I can have an opinion just like you.

Yeah I happened to have seats 8 rows up behind the Tennessee bench on Saturday and after Kentucky went 85 yards on two plays on their opening possession I would not have characterized Butch's demeanor as "disengaged" :)

Post of the day!

All the injuries, O'Brien and Hurd, Losing to TX A&M, BAMA... and South Carolina when they are terrible does take its toll. I imagine he is not too thrilled with Shoop right now either. He probably thinks about all the hard work he has put into rebuilding and he needed to capitalize on this year "VOLS 2016" and it hasn't panned out. Also, he knows even if we do win the East there is a good chance we get smoked by BAMA again in Atlanta.

This is it. Butch knows that 2016 was his money year in this program and it is going to be a disappointment.

Butch has more stress on him than we can imagine. We at Volnation just get to complain to each other and post knee-jerk reactions to the last game. Butch has to hear it from every side including the Big Money donors constantly pressuring him about wins (beating the Gators, Dawgs, and Bama). I think Butch is worn down and ready for the off-season. Oh wait this is not the NFL there is no off-season in college football. There is only The two seasons, football and recruiting season.

I agree, but that's why he gets to drive a $230K Mercedes.

I'll actually be glad when we get into 2017 and folks stop fixating on a single season for Butch and the lads. EVERY year is a potential championship year for the Vols. Not just 2016. We gotta collectively get past that mental hump.

Pretty pathetic for a group of adults to tell kids that have poured their hearts and souls into this program for the last 3/4 year to get it turned around that their efforts are a disappointment.

Look at coaches who are disinterested at pressers and sideline interviews.... Bellichick, Popovich, Coach K, Saban. They don't have time for that bull**** because they are obsessed and they are built different than 99% of us. For example, I know people on the Duke basketball staff. A couple years ago after a road loss to a lesser team, Duke got in at 3AM, K went home saw his wife and was back at the facility by 4:30AM. Duke played Maryland in 48 hours and K didn't go home until they beat Maryland. He made everyone stay at the office as well.He was going around saying to his staff "this was totally worth it, wasn't it?" The guy I know was pretty much like "you're crazy". People like that are just built differently.

I think Bobby Knight rubbed off on him a bit. Sounds like "Season on the Brink" stuff to me.

I'm sure he did, but luckily not all of Knight's traits did. His use of profanity definitely did though. Haha. K curses on a level that is just unreal. It's actually comical.

Must be getting close to the end of the season, because these threads are getting more ridiculous

We did with JG. What I've heard is he is a smarter, faster, more elusive, more accurate and better running JD.

Smarter than Dobbs? I find that hard to believe. Dobbs is one of the smartest college football players out there. Dobbs is also a pretty darn good runner as well. If JG is a better runner then that's amazing.

Nah.. He's not uninterested. He's just about to have stroke on the sidelines sometimes , but not disinterested. You got to think he had no idea he'd be this far down in the depth chart at this point in the year. There isn't any way you can prepare or expect these type of injuries, dismissals, butt hurt selfish people( not naming no names). One of those years. If Vols make it to Atlanta it will be a job well done. They're a mash unit...

I think he was talking about football smarts, not book smarts. I honestly believe Dobbs overthinks things sometimes. That his overall intelligence actually hurts his passing ability. I think Dobbs is at his best when he lets his instincts kick in and put his intelligence aside.

I dont know if JG is better than Dobbs. I know plenty on here seem to think so. By some practice reports, JG has shown tremendous arm strength and athleticism. But I have also read where he lacks touch. In that every pass is a fast ball. So he may still be a little raw.

Dobbs isnt a pretty good runner, he is one of the best running QBs we have seen in awhile.

I think at this point making it to Atlanta will be a job exceptionally well done. Also, I really cannot understand how any logical fan could think any differently.

It would be. There are flaws a plenty, but if you make it, that is what was expected of you..

I was actually wondering if that's what he meant & given some of Dobbs decisions it is quite possible that JG football IQ is higher. It does seem like he overthinks things sometimes.

I also agree that Dobbs is one of if not the best running qb to ever play for UT. Definitely the best that I've had the pleasure to watch. He just makes it look so effortless & is a much stronger runner than one would think. If JG is better then that's amazing & very good for the future. QB battle should be fun to watch this off-season.
