Butch Knew He Would Coach UT All Along

I told my wife a few months ago that Butch knew he would coach at UT after Cincy played in Neyland. So glad he is here.

Considering the other two realistic options we were going after besides Gruden :birgits_giggle: (Gundy, Strong), it seems that our Vols backed into the best fit for this program at the right time. However, this season will be the biggest barometer of Butch's career.

Someone remind Dave Hart to never schedule a home-and-home with Michigan.

Heh, Aesius, you're wise. But I'll still disagree. I say schedule it ... for the 2038 and 2039 seasons. A few years before Butch retires in Knoxville as the second coming of Robert Neyland.

Give him a chance to go back to Michigan with a lifetime of pride and accomplishments draped over him like victory wreaths. :good!:

I don't buy that statement for a second. Look how intense CBJ is during game day and cliche/moderate he is towards anyone leading up to the game day. I doubt he looked at a coach, with his team preparing for an SEC opponent that was down and could've been a huge win for Cincy, and this statement being made.

He says things like this, as you can see, because they "work".

With that said, I'm sure as hell glad we have him as a coach. I think he has done as well
or better than a large majority of any other viable coach we could've hired.
I was covering the game, and though I didn't hear Butch say it; it was obvious that he wanted this job badly. He was awestruck and like a teenager who falls head over heels in love.

I want Butch to get a big time win so bad. I want it for me as a fan of course because of what we've had to endure even before he got here.

I want him to feel secure and I want the fans to brag about their coach for the first time in a while. Butch needs that in my opinion. No doubt, the man has worked exceptionally hard the first 2 1/2 years.

Go Vols!! Get the big one!
I agree. I can't wait till Butch and his staff get their first big time win. They have really worked hard to get our program back to the top. It would be sweet to see them get win Saturday. Were due for a big time win. Go Vols!

I agree,I highly doubt he said anything like that, call it coach speak or lieing to the fan base or what ever you would like to call it

but I am glad he is at UT for sure

A Michigan stadium experience is indeed different than others.

The 3 games I went to the last 3 seasons, I didn't see or hear a single advertisement for a bank, insurance, natural gas, grocery store, etc.

Anywhere. Completely non-commercial - Advertisements didn't come over the sound system, jumbo tron, nor were any plastered anywhere in the stadium.

While that's got nothing to do with the game or the stadium proper, it is a very different experience, like watching a show w/ no commercials.

The GAME is a very different experience than Neyland too.

There is no upper deck, it's a big bowl, and stupid easy to get in/out of the stadium and make your way to concessions once inside.

Make no mistake, I'm a UT fan through and through, yet a game there is different than lots of other places. Not better, different.

I know a guy from an ESPN message board years ago that lives in Michigan that told me the Big House experience was boring on game day. I told him to check out Neyland, he has relatives in east Tennessee, he went to a game in Neyland and said there was no comparison. Said the Neyland experience was a quantum leap better in game day excitement and overall college football environment.
