Butch Jones

Let’s see. Who sucks harder? Pruitt, Jones, or Dooley?

I’ll offer their SEC records as a metric to compare these Goobers:
Dooley 5-19 .208 **
Jones 14-26 .350 **
Pruitt 10-16 .385
** I arbitrarily charged the interim coached games to Dooley and Jones. I doubt the game outcomes would be any different if Dooley and Jones had stayed to coach the final games in the seasons when they were canned.

I think SEC records are the best metric to measure these coaches. It’s not the only metric, of course. It doesn’t include the egg Pruitt laid against GA State, Jones’ bowl wins, or the highlight of Dooley ball when we beat NC State in the Kickoff Classic and Dooley wore the leather helmet.

Important: The SEC records show the trend is gradually improving from Dooley to Jones to Pruitt. Not gonna do the math, but eyeballing the trend indicates that we should be SEC juggernauts in maybe 30 years! So, let’s keep pushing for improvements in medicine, and diet well, and exercise, and hopefully we’re all here to see that juggernaut!!! Can I get an Amen? Anyone?
OMG that 2050 squad will be killer
Thanks for the haha

Did Butch pull the trigger to quickly on the Arkansas State job and offensive coordinator at Alabama is his dream job?

I'm sure he's an individual that feels his maturation process has gone well the last few years.

What was the excuse for 99?
The bottom line is that Tee went undefeated in 1998. Against South Carolina that year his numbers were record breaking on an NCAA level. His team won the national championship. Peyton was never as good, playing college football, as Tee was in 1998. With that, I close my argument and will not respond to any other remarks on this thread.

Lol, that’s funny, “I’ll take my ball and go home because you big bad people proved me wrong” BTW, Tee sucks at coaching too...

Tee isn’t even close to Manning. The 1998 season we power ran The ball a lot. Tee did enough to get the balls out to the receivers but we had some huge breaks that year. The defense played better against competitions than the previous year too.

Ainge was the more physically gifted QB. Clausen was just clutch. If UT had the ball down a score at the end of the game, i would take Casey 10/10.

You saw how Casey’s performance fell after he lost his good wife receivers like stallworth whiten and even the one year with Kelley Washington.

I have to disagree . Clausen’s most productive 2 years were his Sophomore and Senior seasons . His Junior year numbers were not as good because he had a lingering injury and even missed a game or two IIRC. He was off by only one yard in passing yards in 2003 -vs- 2001. In 2003 his primary targets were Tony Brown Jason Swain and Brent Smith. Not exactly what comes to mind when talking about great WR groups in Vol history, at least in my mind anyway .

That 13 and 17 weren't beating any of Pruitt's teams. Especially 17.

2017 lost to KY by 1 possession and lost to Florida on last play of the game. John Kelly would run the **** over Pruitts no DL coach having team.

Eric Ainge was better than Casey Clausen. Casey had better defenses.

Wrong. Just wrong. Ainge actually had playmakers and the 04 and 07 defenses were very good. After Witten/ Stallworth/ and the FUTURE went to the pros, Clausen had a terrible supporting cast. Clausen lost ONE, SEC road game in 4 years.

Jones is a shameless self promoter. No way he was going to give up being able to go into his new position bragging about how he was a part of a National Championship team.
The NC remains to be seen.
The Lord High Saban does not do so well against teams of near peer talent.
Tennessee fans should hate everything crimson with their every fiber.

Love how Jones is pulling a Cornbread and staying at Bama even though he has a HC gig. Trash.

You forgot fresh Little Debbie oatmeal cream cakes every morning, he is good at opening the box. The wrappers still give him a little trouble but he is an individual with a 5 star heart taking leadership reps.

One of the reasons I am pulling for the Buckeyes is that I ran my trap to every Bammer I know that they were assured of not winning a NC with the Hornblower on staff.

Butch was/is a clown. He ran the orange and white game like a ringmaster. It was a three ring circus. Really dumb!!!

Maybe wee little Nicky taught him some humility.
You know he had to say at least once...
"Shut that nonsense up Butch, nobody is impressed with your clichés.
You sound like a fool with your vocabulary.
Throw that book you learned those catch words from away.
TRY to coach football"

Say what you want, but I just watched UT highlights from 2013-2017 on YouTube, and my takeaway was that any one of Butch’s Vol teams would beat this current team by 4 TDs

My other takeaway was that Dobbs might be one of the best QBs we’ve had since Manning. I should’ve appreciated him more.

Thoughts?
I agree BJ is better than JP but not only did he botch 2 seasons from going to ATL but he fell back to the bottom in yr 5. Unacceptable!
