Butch Jones

That man beat fla and uga but they both sucked those years. UGA wasnt were it is right now neither was Fla thats why they replaced the coaches. In fact Botch lost to Fla when we were the better team or are we gonna just forget the hail mary and 4th & 13 smh
True

And both UGA and the 'turds are MUCH, MUCH better the last 2 years than they ever were when 'ol Butchee was here.
Like you said...Pruitt didn't have Dobbs, either. I'd guarantee you CJP would have at least 5 more wins under his belt over the last 2 seasons if he would've had Dobbs.

Don't forget that the Bandleader went 0-8 in the SEC without Dobbs for his QB....
Yeah the 0-8 was terrible worst season until this year.. Tennessee has never just won 3 games in one season and Butch gave us our first 4-8 ever. Wow im depressed lol

Not an applicable comparison. If we had played nothing but a 10 game SEC regular season in 2017, we would have more than likely lost all 10 games.

If Pruitt had Dobbs, he probably has a much different record. We’re going to have to all accept the fact that this is a QB driven league. We can talk all we want about the trenches/special teams/field position/blah blah, but who is about to play in the playoffs?

Mac Jones
Ian Book
Trevor Lawrence
Justin Fields

Georgia’s in if they play JT Daniels all year. Who is right on the outside? Kellen Mond. Who won it last year? Joe Burrow.

If your QB is a stud, you win. If your QB is not a stud, you don’t win.
Yeap. Manning was great and left a loaded, experienced, deep team that tee won the championship with. Since then I guess gray and dobbs have been the best QBs.
Tennessee needs to recruit great QBs repeatedly like clemson has with boyd, Watson and TL.
The problem is I dont think the truly elite QBs consider Tennessee under cornbread.
A circle of not enough skill players to make a pretty good QB look great. That makes great QBs stay away. That makes skill players stay away. Repeat.

I'm definitely not a fan of the one who just became HC at Arkansas St, but he generally gets credited for two losses in 2017 that he wasn't around for. He got fired after the Mizzou game that season. Brady Hoke was the interim coach for the season ending losses to LSU and Vandy, so wouldn't those losses go on his record instead? Now can the one who is now the Red Wolves HC be blamed for the events that eventually led to those last two losses? Probably so...

It has nothing to do with coaching. Dobbs and Kamara was the big difference.

So Jones gets no credit for developing a three star qb with limited offers into a good qb but Pruitt gets no blame for not be able to turn any qb into a serviceable one? Makes sense, and Worley was also better than any qb we have on the roster. He was also a three star qb.

Those Dobb's teams would beat any Pruitt team like a rented mule. Not even remotely close.

That very Dobbs team along with Kamara couldn't even beat Vandy their last year. Pruitt might not be looking so hot right now as a head coach but when it comes to football knowledge I'd still put him ahead of the band geek any day.

Not even close to being true, and Jones developed/recruited Dobbs. Pruitt can’t field a serviceable much less good qb but that is probably not his fault either. UGA played for NC in 2017 in Jones’ final season. In Jones’ last three seasons, 2015-2017, UF was 16-8 in the SEC; essentially the same winning percentage as the 2018-2020 Gators at 19-7 in the SEC. Georgia went 16-8 in the SEC between 2015-17 and 21-4 between 2018-20 in the SEC. While UGA’s record did improve in the SEC, it won the SEC championship once during both spans. UGA did play for a championship in 2019 but lost to LSU. UGA also played and lost in Atlanta the month Jones was hired in 2012. UF has played in Atlanta once during Pruitt’s tenure and did so twice during Jones’ tenure. Missouri played in Atlanta twice during Jones’ tenure, zero under Pruitt. Alabama won the NC twice under Jones and played for an additional one. Alabama has yet to win one under Pruitt but may this season. UT played Auburn (eventual SEC champion) and then #2 Oregon 2013, #4 Oklahoma and then #3 Ole Miss in 2014, Arkansas (8-5) and Oklahoma (made playoff) in 2015, then top 10 Texas A and M and Virginia Tech on a neutral field in 2016, finally GT on a neutral field and LSU in 2017. The toughest OOC opponent Pruitt has played in three years is an 8-4 WV or 7-5 Ga State. His toughest SEC West opponent outside of Alabama was a 3-5 in the SEC Auburn in 2018 or 3-5 in the SEC MSU in 2019. This notion that Pruitt has drawn a much tougher SEC and overall schedule is laughable. In CBJ’s best season in 2015, his average margin was 39-21 or 18 points. In Pruitt’s best season in 2019, his average margin was 24-22 or 2 points. The defensive guru even allowed more points on average not counting the bowl wins for both.

Your honor. The prosecution rest its case.

I hope you aren’t a lawyer. Jones developed Dobbs and recruited him. He also developed Worley into a serviceable qb, who by the way he inherited not recruited. Pruitt hasn’t inherited or recruited a qb into being serviceable by the end of his third full season. This isn’t the NFL, Jones didn’t pick up Dobbs through free agency. He developed him

Harrison Bailey and Kaidon Salter are more highly touted prospects than Dobbs was... but so was Jarrett Guarantano for that matter. Butch completely botched the recruitment of Trevor Lawrence, who Tennessee could have had.

The fact that Bailey, Maurer, and JG were much higher rated than Dobbs isn’t a very good defense of Pruitt.

To be clear, I'm not defending Pruitt. I think he should be fired right now... but it will probably have to wait 11 months and another 4-8 season. I just don't understand why some people are doing a retro-evaluation of Jones.

Well what about the first two years? And HB, may be the second coming of Manning, but, he didn’t exactly light it up.

Butch knew O better then Pruitt. Pruitt is a defensive coach, simple as that. He’s got to bring someone in there he can develop a quarterback if this is gonna work.
