He was a snake oil salesman that ran out of promises.

Then questioned why people were pissed when he lost the SEC east and or the Sugar Bowl by losing to USC and Vandy with a superior roster.

People forget about the Title IX issues he had here. That is the reason he is untouchable. And did he physically abuse Mack Crowder? And I think there was a kid who quit and went I think to Duke that was verbally abused by Butch. Programs do not let themselves get into those situations these days due to lawsuits.

Not disputing that......but even in the “worst college football season in school history” Butch’s team did go out there in win all the non conference games........something Pruitt can’t do.........no matter who they are.

Pruitt can’t do it this year because we have no non conference games this season. Amazing the mental gymnastics people are doing to try to spin a shortened, all conference schedule season into the “worst season in school history” when we literally went winless in league play lmaooooo

Firing him for underachieving in 2016 seemed like overreaction then. But would have made a positive, major difference. Every school brought up that 0-8 SEC record when Pruitt was trying to salvage the recruiting class the year after. I’m concerned we will retain Pruitt, switch up about half the staff, and see a bunch of decommits and transfers. Then we will suffer our 4th losing record in 5 years, and fire Pruitt THEN. And the new coach will have to preside over a major rebuilding job and gets the perceived 5 years to turn it around. That’s how you become Kentucky or Vandy.

Nothing mental gymnastics about it.

In the worst year ever.......ever, Butch’s team beat all their non contenders foes.

Something Pruitt’s team has yet to do........and these aren’t “the worst seasons ever.”

Butch sucked hard. He is gone and I think most everyone was happy about that.

However Tennessee is now stuck with Pruitt and he sucks just as bad if not worse than Butch.

Pruitt has shown to certainly be just as stubborn.

Pruitt so far has shown he can’t develop......that was one of the major gripes on Butch.

Heck Pruitt’s in game coaching leaves people scratching their head.

No one “wants” Butch......but I don’t see how anyone would want Pruitt either......they both suck.

Also prove my original post wrong......you can’t.

Well, we couldn’t fire him for going 8-5, but I agree with your point. Don’t wait until the cupboard is bare before firing a coach. It only makes it harder on the next guy.

Correct. There was plenty of reason for optimism after we ended on a nice run. But even last year contained 3 lopsided losses, plus horrible defeats to Ga St and BYU.

Clearly Pruitt thought we were good or he would have made an attempt to upgrade the QB position. His judgment isn’t so great.

The worst season in Tennessee school history will always be the year we went winless in conference. Trying to make it better because we beat 4 non conference teams compared to a 2-3 win SEC conference season is literally partisanship. You’re either a Butch apologist or you literally hate a guy who’s a coach in a sport and program that has no direct impact on your life and you have no direct impact on the sport or program.

So yes, it’s amazing mental gymnastics here.

Seriously? He certainly seemed like the paranoid type, but this spyware stuff is intriguing...when did that occur? I gotta wonder why that didn't come to light, especially towards the end (not ruling out that I just missed it, though).

Is this documented? I mean I wouldn't be shocked if it were true but it also sounds like something someone made up to make him seem even worse.
