Jury is still out. Recruiting is encouraging but we need to see it on the field.
I'll take the latter in these future matchups:
Butch Jones vs...
-Steve Spurrier
-Nick Saban
-Les Miles
-Will Muschamp
-Dan Mullen
-Chip Kelly (next season)
-Bob Stoops (next two seasons)
*On a positive note, he has beaten James Franklin

We have a good coach. The question is, will he be better than all the other coaches in this league? I doubt it. I hope so, but i doubt it. I don't think Jones has what it takes to win championships. The primary reason is his unwillingness to make any coaching changes.
You came to that conclusion after one season, with 3 injured QB's, and a roster with virtually none of his own players???
Good analysis. :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:
.
It's not like he was dominant at his other stops. And if you know a dam* thing about football, it's a fairly sane doubt to have at this point. So bang your head all you want, but you might want to save some for our 8 win average over the next 5 years.

4 championships in 6 years seems somewhat dominant to me. Yes, different situations, but he proved to be among the best of his peers.
Who knows if he's on the same level as the current SEC top coaches, but 2 things I feel confident in:
1. He's ten times the coach Dooley was.
2. He'll need time to change the loser culture remaining from the Dooley era and bring in real SEC talent before his true potential can be assessed.
Dooley with this years team wins 2, maybe 3 games max.
Saban with this years team would have won no more than Butch did, IMO. Saban's first year at Bama was 6-6 with a much better roster and easier schedule, even losing to Louisana Monroe.
How could you possibly know how willing he would be to make coaching changes? If you mean that he is unwilling to hang someone for us not winning a national championship (or fill in any other accolade that you think we should have achieved) this year, then I am glad that he won't do that.
No matter what kind of working situation you are in...if you feel that your leader is willing to throw you under the bus at a moment's notice, then you won't be able to perform well. If you feel that your leader has complete confidence in you, you are 100 X more likely to be successful. It is basic management 101. If you think he should have canned someone whose family was willing to pick up and move to be here, then you are crazy. All the rest of his coaching staff would have started performing poorly because of fear.
So we should just get rid of this staff after one year? If we hired another staff and they didn't work out the first year, do we fire all of them too? What do you think has gotten us in the situation we are in now? How about MASSIVE COACHING CHANGES?
First of all, you are ten times the coach Dooley was. Second, I think you should carefully look over what Saban did his first year at Bama. Yes, he lost to LA Monroe. Everyone points to that and it was a bad loss. But if you consider the whole season, I think it was impressive and I don't think season one for CBJ compares.
