Butch Jones Will Never Be an Elite Coach

Fingers

Can you break that down for me please?

I'm not fingers, but basically:

Because the OP thinks CBJ is too conservative and that we lost one game this season, the recruiting is gonna die down and CBJ will reveal himself to be a terrible coach.

Apparently to OP will not watch UT football until Jones "digs his own grave, like Majors and Fulmer did"

Since, you know, Majors and Fulmer have never won a national championship.

I love all the **tching and moaning coming from these guys who have hot chicks as their avatar... Just a random observation I noticed. But if you think Butch won't be elite then go ahead and take you your ball and go home. I hear Arkansas is looking for fans right now after a lot of them jumped off a bridge after losing to Toledo. Not every great coach is going to make the right decisions 100% of the time. Let's see what happens with our stretch of SEC games before we decide that Butch can't get it dome here. Who would you like to be our coach OP? Maybe Gruden? Or Peyton? How about we ask Butch Davis? Since we have all of these star coaches out there that can call better plays and recognize defenses out there you guys should be getting paid the millions not the coaches we currently have.I jet you guys would have a hell of a recruiting class too and win multiple national titles. I understand being upset about a close loss that should have been a win, but the things I've been reading lately are just asinine.

Look at the time. That's all for this session. Come back in 2 weeks and we'll pick it up from where we left off. Off the couch.

Seriously- what does Saban now and Fulmer in the late '90's have in common? They could recruit. Saban's recruiting makes Kiffin look like Einstein. Fulmer looked good too. Jimmy's and Joe's beat X's and O's. Sometimes being a salesmen isn't all bad.

I actually agree with some of what you said. And I too don't like playing not to lose. But saying (at this stage) CBJ will never be an elite coach is a little out there. I know the way that game ended P.O.'d many. I don't see it as the death Knell.

In spite of the loss, the stadium and fans were awesome. It's hard to imagine a recruit there, witnessing all that, would say " I'm not coming here because he kicked a field goal rather than go for a TD". I think it's too early to post a diatribe yet. Let the season play out, get 1 or 2 more top 5 recruiting classes, and then if he can't get it done, show him the door. We still lack depth. It's hard for some to realize this is still a work in progress. Derrick Dooley left a dumpster fire. Instant gratification isn't going to happen this season.

Next session, after Florida game. If we lose there, you won't be alone in venting.

I disagree. I think he will be an elite coach. He inherited a HUGE dumpster fire from the dumb fu** Dooley. I know nobody wants to hear that, but it's the truth. We will be 9-3 this year and fighting for a playoff spot next year.

They will all be on the wagon like nothing happened soon enough.

You've got to break up a post like that into chapters so I can selectively read it and decide whether I want to join your church.

It's prob a pay version available for $5.99

Good toilet reading material. Starts off with a nice confrontational hook with the "keep the tl;dr to yourself."

Will have to read the rest when I have a couple of spare days to see if the rest of it is as interesting.

A lot of truth in there. Don't agree with all of it but not a bad write up.

I don't think there's anyone who believes Butch is or ever will be an elite coach at this point. But he doesn't necessarily have to be to win 9-10 games most years.

Recruiting will be fine provided he wins 7-8 this year and 9 next year. And by 2017, the roster will be so stacked that he will have to make some atrocious calls or coordinator hires to lose more than 3 games a year.

I think if any Vols fan could get 14 years from Butch that look exactly like Mark Richt's record, we would take it. I think that's about where he will cap out at Tennessee, and it's mostly due to him lacking "it" on the sidelines. I don't think Fulmer ever had "it" either, but he had an obscenely talented roster and a very lucky season and brought home some hardware.

Maybe Butch will be fortunate like Chizik and Guarantano is the next great dual threat QB who can take him to the promised land by 2017/2018.

No way in hell barring a 4-8 total melt down we need to fire Butch. I am as upset as anyone over the OK loss but Butch is recruiting the best talent we could ever hope for and I still believe in can turn into a Elite game time coach too.

People that want him fired are simply not using any logic or reason. I put this pic up a lot but once again here is where we were just a few years ago.

Here, take these brochures. Do you have a few minutes to talk about Butch Jones with us and how you're going to hell if you don't agree with me?

Please don't quote the OP. It's too much to keep scrolling through, especially on mobile. :)
