Butch Jones Vol Walk

Must really hurt to put everything you have into a job like UTHC and come up short in the win column.

It's definitely not a good feeling, just like anything else in life that a person puts their heart into and comes up short. I've posted a few things against him on here the past couple of weeks, but I know he did his best.

The best part of this link IMO, are all the comments about how great he's going to be, compared to Dooley. I'd sure like to hear their comments now :eek:lol:

Dooley was 3-21 in SEC play.

Butch is a good guy, kept his nose clean. Cleaned up our program. Recruited good players. Kept searching for better coaches even if it meant cutting ties with long time colleagues. Improved our team, our record, our dignity.

The level of bowl became a debate instead of making a bowl game.

We we were ranked a few years. At the beginning and the end. We even got up to 10th (I think) last year before we lost in double OT to a top 10 A&M team on the road.

We broke the streak to UGA and importantly UF.

I think his time is done on Rocky Top but I appreciate Butch Jones and all hat he has done for UT. Let's not question his character or heart (insert joke here). He has given his all for UT. He has not quit on us, his team keeps playing hard and that speaks volumes to me.

We could have done a lot better, sure. We could have done a lot worse also.

I'm pretty sure he will get another opportunity after he leaves and he deserves it. There are not many SEC teams happy with their coach these days.

His face just isn't as red as it usually is-me thinks he had his drinking under control that day.

That had to have been the quietest Vol Walk I'd seen in years- no energy, even the players.. just kinda blah..

I've gotta say, he gave his all. Let us not forget that he is a human being. There needs to be a change, but we need to make sure we are civil. Wish he could stay on in an athletic department position.

I don't believe he gave his all. We lost too many games due to too many recurring mistakes for me to believe he gave his all. No one giving their all is going to going to make the same exact miscalculations in big games to lose year over year.

I think he got it about right. Must really hurt to put everything you have into a job like UTHC and come up short in the win column.

First post..yay me. I don't have any ground-breaking info or insights, but this post above distinctly sums it up for me.

Anyone ever been in a bad marriage and deeply wanted things to work? Want the other to change? Usually, they won't. But that doesn't stop the wishing. That was Fulmer and now Butch for me.

Anyone ever reached and failed? Or hit the Peter Principle? That is where Butch is IMO. In a large degree Fulmer too.

Both have had "chances" to hire another OC/DC/Adjust/whatever. Neither went outside their comfort zone. Neither worked, apparently.

Because they wouldn't change. So let's take a life lesson from this.

If you hear rumblings about your performance at work. TRULY listen.

If our wife/husband/Life Partner has complaints, TRULY listen.

That is all. No hate. I hope all is well in the beautiful state of Tennessee for all of you!

Sorry i just didn’t hear many at all. And I was listening for it. But for a grown man to BOO anything is just plain silliness....

There was clearly booing when they announced he was coach. Probably only half the stadium or maybe just the student section being loud, but he definitely got booed. Silly maybe, but he still got booed.

It just makes me extremely sad that he couldn't succeed here! IMO, he honestly wants to be here. For whatever reason, it hasn't worked out, and we can all speculate on what those reasonings are, but I wish him nothing but the best of luck!
