Butch Jones, the Intern...

Won't do much to off-set the amount owed to Butch as his open market value is that of a jar of Cramergesic and maybe the Popsicle stick needed to apply it.

He grabs coffee before meetings and has it down to the gnat’s ass exactly how many sugars/creamers Saban and the other coaches like.

He also orders lunch for the coaching staff and other football administration. When Butch Jones orders pizza, he demands it show up hot and fresh and accepts no less.

I bet Saban doesn't even have an actual use for Jones. He probably just liked the idea of a former UT head coach only being an intern at Bama.

Saban: Hey Lyle get me some coffee.
Butch: Mr. Saban, please, I prefer to be called Butch.
Saban: Cream and 2 sugars, Lyle.
Butch: Did you want the small or large cup, Mr. Saban?

It's petty and stupid except for the fact that Saban's motivations are less than crystal clear. Posters have ideas, but none seem completely satisfying. Saban/Jones approximately equal to Putin/Trump?

Dear God no. First off, there is no Putin/Trump, that’s been proven over and over again the last 18 months.

Saban’s “motives” are crystal clear imo. He’s doing this as a favor to his and his intern’s agent Jimmy Sexton. Go back and look at that Saban presser yesterday....he couldn’t possibly care less about Lyle, will never interact with him, seemed more than proturbed at having to answer the question about bringing Jones “on staff”. And he referred to him as an “intern” for crying out loud.....couldn’t have possibly been more disrespectful there.

As I’ve heard many surmise about the last couple weeks, this is no more than Saban doing Sexton a solid by letting The Intern hang around the the top college football program in the country....and get his image rehabbed after having been allowed touch the robes of the greatest coach in NCAA football history, so that he can go get a MAC or Big Sky job in the next year or two.

That clown can get in lots of "mental" and "leadership" reps as an "off the field intern" doing "trivial duties", no one else wants to do. Pruitt for Jones...I think it's f_____g hilarious.

And to think, the guy who we were counting on to match wits with Saban, to stand on the opposing sideline from Saban, to win recruiting battles vs Saban, to beat Saban on game days for the last 5 seasons......the only place he could land is at Alabama as Saban’s freaking Intern.

On a serious note, what do these off-field "analysts" actually do? Just watch a bunch of film and discuss notes with the other assistants?

Probably the highest paid "intern" in the U.S., maybe the world, regardless of the type of business?
