Butch Jones stealing ideas from CJH?

I dunno if you can exactly say Butch stole this idea, but it is Butch.....

Former Vols head coach Butch Jones stole an idea from Josh Heupel this week
Calling BS on this.
Gym teachers have been playing dodge ball forever.
Started when equipment makers began sending soccer balls to schools.
Dumb ass gym teachers did not know what they were and after getting them for several years , decided to just let kids throw them at each other. They could not be allowed to take up space that could used for footballs in the racks.
Hornblower reminds everyone of a dumb ass gym teacher.

Couple of things. I understand the value of slogans......there are some positive things to them under the right circumstances and under the right conditions. Jones certainly was one to concoct them, and he's a student of his profession, or purported to be. Even our current coach does (eVOLve?? or something like that). The "military" will do this as well, it's not limited to coaches in football. Regardless, Jones wasn't bad at them (not saying he was a guru at it either), but that is the problem, slogans don't win games. That said, my MAIN curiosity was, as a Saban intern for 4? years, did he learn anything, and would it apply to a follow-on head coaching job? So far, no. Now, he's completed 1 season at AkST, so TBD. But, to date, he's striking me as the same idiot who is sticking to his offensive philosophy that has proven NOT to work across conferences (time and place considered). I see no change, no adaptation to current time and situation. I do see articles that rip him a new one for being a "failure" before, and now. Part of me is a little sad that a person in this profession, who had success at Cincinnati, and utter failure here, an apprentice with the "best" coach in NCAA history can't adapt or change to improve at his next stop. If he doesn't then it's time for him to be "labeled" for what he is and become a high school coach, or back to playing an instrument. At some point you've been given enough rope. Jones is about at the end of his. Personally, if he doesn't rebound this year and progress afterward, he no longer belongs in the NCAA.

IMO if he ended up coaching at a HS I'd feel sorry for the HS kids he was coaching.

I really don't consider him as qualified to coach at any level and that would include middle school..

He's just a really bad football coach.

He has many Millions of $$$ so he should just go sit on a porch somewhere far away from any kids.

VFL...GBO!!!

I don't much care for Lyle Allen myself. I don't even blame him for his failure at the UT. I blame the AD director and school itself for being mental deficient and tightwads. Not having the sense or guts to value the program enough to hire a proven coach at a time we most needed one. Wrong as I might be, I blame them for not forward-thinking by keeping Fulmer one more year. I think the embarrassment of the team collapse and loss to Wyoming would have lit a campfire under his fat butt. In an effort to redeem himself, I think he would have fielded a team that would have been much more competitive. Either way, the Oh, the water is cold!" hire of a JUCO level coach for a storied SEC program was inexcusable. Butch eventually failed because he had no business being here to begin with, but our imbecile administrators brought him in anyway.

Now, with the above being said, you folks enjoying yourselves the opportunity of belittling a guy no longer here, hence irrelevant, have the guts if not the dignity to also acknowledge what little success he did have. He once led a team that came close to beating Bama. If not for a last minute fumble, they might have pulled it off. Not since the Kiffin led Mount Cody game have we made the Crimson Crude sweat so profusely. He even twice led teams to near wins over Florida teams, then finally beat them. We haven't sniffed such proximity with either Bama or Florida since. Show your nastiness by curb stomping the guy if you wish, but have the gall and strength of character to give some credit where it's due as well.
Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Nobody is interested in “close”.

Some of y’all are bitter haha. The guy didn’t work out here. Destroying everything he does at Arkansas State isn’t going to change that. Hope he continues to grow as a coach and positively impacts the lives of young men in that program.

Clearly you care because you replied to the "close" post. And described, yes, described how much you didn't care. Only a care invested person does that.

I “steal” ideas from my competition all the time and they steal mine. Nothing wrong with adopting what has worked for others
