Butch Jones Show: Will he take any responsibility?

Wish Bob would ask him (1) what adjustments did you make at halftime? (2) do you still think Jumper should be starting at MLB? (3) did you agree with the play calling in the 2nd half? and (4) are you beginning to think you're in way over your head coaching in the SEC?

I chalk up the penalties to a lack of discipline. This goes back directly to coaching. There are some coaches that consistently have very few penalties. THIS part can be coached and I put that blame squarely on his shoulders. The poor play calling in the 2nd half is also on the coaches. Dobbs does not call the plays. Since these were the 2 biggest problems I saw, I think the coach deserves the blame for this debacle.
Defensive holding penalties are indicative of a lack of talent.

It's too early in the season for Butch to deviate from the usual coach speak. Put it in the rear view mirror and get the next one. Getting the second one saves the season.

OU brought an extra tackler/blitzer on just about every play, and as the OP says, we did not have enough blockers. Because of their blitzing and our poor blocking, 1 or 2 sooners were in our backfield on just about every play

This was a TOTAL Offensive FAIL. Totally out-coached. Jones could have hired a proven offensive coordinator--but chose to do a favor for his old pal DeBord, by hiring him, and this is on the two of them. Our offense suxed.

Not a chance, no way. If he wants to try and curry favor and gain back some respect from the fans who pay his salary, he'd do well to take a page out of Steve Spurrier's book and say what everybody knows....the coaching was bad and the loss was in him. But don't hold your breath.

I'd start to feel better about that horror show if he did this today. It is SQUARELY on his head.

But I'm not holding my breath.

Couldn't agree more. I want him to look in the camera and say this will never happen again under his watch. It's happened 3 times now. All at home. But as he said aren't a team that plays on emotion. Oklahoma was last night and they got the W. Maybe our coach needs to show more emotion.

After stopping our offense you saw the camera focused on the OU team they knew they were gonna win I said to myself we are bout to crap our pants and lose this game.. They were jumping up and down...they knew it..

And let's not forget the absolutely dismal performance of our national signing day, star studded WR corp.

Butch will just run his mouth about processes and progress.

There is no progress in blowing a 17-0 lead.

None. He's a mouthpiece. Nothing more. He'll talk a good game and bring in recruits. But when the game gets tough, he'll fold. No spine.

Butch needs to quit coaching and write a book entitled, "Phrases to say to make people think you know what the hell you're doing?"

I've got a phrase for Butch... ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!! Your actions have proven you don't know $h1t about game day coaching thus far.

Recruiting class rankings don't mean squat until you prove it ON THE FIELD. Butch has the same record as Dooley this far into his tenure. Coaching is pathetic at best.

Makes no difference whether or not he accepts it or not, because he owns it. (Responsible)

I guess the question is whether or not he admits to it without excuse or throwing anyone under a bus. This stops at the top.

Is Butch Jones a narcissist? Or just extremely not humble?

Most head coaches have some of that. What I'm starting to wonder about are all those kids who transferred a while back. Several posters mocked them for not being tough enough, but maybe there's something to it? In any event, it's said that a team is a reflection of its coach. Let's see how the season plays out.

Anyone think Butch will admit he was out coached on the "Butch Jones Show" this morning? Can't wait to hear the excuses. He looked completely lost standing on the sidelines in the 4th quarter. More realistically, completely out of his league.

Two things, I agree the entire Tennessee coaching staff was out-coached when it mattered the most. Secondly, Baker Mayfield carried his team on his back and made plays when it mattered the most, eluded rushing defenders and made some great throws to rally his team. Space Dobbs on the other hand, looked terrible in the second half and couldn't make the plays needed to keep moving the chains. When he was under duress he took some sacks that killed us and was just chucking the ball into empty spaces. Dark horse Heisman candidate, no way in heck. He choked.

There is no reason to harp on the negatives it is over because we still have 10 games to play with the possibility of a 11 or 12. SEC Championship and Bowl. Don't kid yourself if some of you are thinking we are playing in the playoffs.

Butch Jones will be here this year and next. This program will not be turned around until year 4 or 5.

In game coaching may never be fixed and may play in as a factor.

Vanillia play calling midway through the 2nd to end of regulation is not going to cut it.
