Here is how Butch compares to other SEC HCs since his start in 2013. Les Miles is an exception b/c he coached partially into 2016. Will Muschamp's record is taken from 2012-2014 @ florida and 2016 @ USCe.

Not listed:
Derek Mason - 3 years @ Vanderbilt
Jim McElwain - 2 years @ Florida
Kirby Smart - 1 year @ Georgia
Barry Odom - 1 year @ Missouri

The contrast between Saban and everyone else is crazy. What's really crazy, though, is LSU ditching Miles. Take Saban out of the picture and compare Butch & Gus; 18-14 vs 14-18. Butch is clawing for everything he can get just like everyone else in the conference. It's Saban's world.

This also doesn't take into consideration that Butch has gotten Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri and SCar every single year. A luxury West coaches don't have.

Like MSU is a power house or something lol. Sorry but it's true. Oh and Vandy beat Ole Miss too. **** happens to everyone not named Saban, in the SEC that is.

State had Dak Prescott for 4 years, won a lot of games in the West, were ranked #1 for a stretch in '14. So what was your point?

Open up the check book and bring in Miles. It might be the only way we stop GT from rushing for 1000 yards on us.

Remove eight losses for Butch to the SEC West and he has still lost 10 games to a very weak SEC East. Not a good stat.

My opinion is Butch Jones == Gene Chizik. Got lucky with a great QB. After the great QB leaves, so will the wins.

Mizzo didn't suck the first two years Jones was here.
You also need to consider that Bama is the Vols permanent West opponent to be objective.

Well if being a middle of the pack also ran in the SEC is what you want then I can understand your love affair with Jones.

Comparing a coach who inherits a train wreck to a one who has an established program is a very biased approach… how did the inherited talent compare? One measure is the number of players drafted by the NFL …Look at the players drafted by team following the 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons…

Not perfect by any means but does offer some insights…the number of players drafted generally follows the win/loss records but why does Bret Bielema still have a job? Muschamp’s numbers are for only 2 seasons so he had talent on par with LSU – just a shade below Alabama…Tennessee and Kentucky were on par with some of the better mid majors in terms of NFL talent…

Surely you're not trying to argue that playing in the East and the schedule that comes with it is just as difficult as playing an SEC West conference. That's total BS.

I think Stoops has only had 1, Zadarius Smith, a JuCo player. I'm pretty sure the other 3 were recruited by Joker. But honestly Stoops probably has around 10 players right now I could see being drafted in the next two-three years. That will be the time to judge Stoops on his classes.

I know most QBs look great to UF fans, but c'mon. I appreciate Dobbs and eveything he's done for UT, but he's not a 'great' QB.

It was intended to show what new coaches inherited...if you played it forward and had the results of the drafts after the next 3 season, I would expect Jones to be closer to the middle of the pack...off this year's team we might have as many as 4 or 5 drafted depending on how many juniors go early...

If you look at the last 2 seasons, Jones is 9-7 (0.563) - ties with Gus for 3rd...probably a more realistic measure of his tenure..

Like Urban Meyer at Florida after Tebow? Or maybe it's not as simple as you assume...

As one poster already mentioned, Dobbs is a good qb but he's not an elite qb...he was what we needed and has us on the verge of back to back 9-4 seasons - best back to back season in a decade...

You'll see a much better passing attack from Tennessee next year...hopefully Malone will hang around to reap the benefits of playing with a true passing QB...
