It's our first game in Florida in January... In a stadium named after a resilient individual.

It's also the first time anyone on the team has played in a professional team venue.

“(I’m) about 15 pounds overweight from that three-year span, so I’m working on getting that back,” Jones said. “(I’m) just proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish here, (I’m) proud of my players. We have a long ways to go, but it’s been a very fulfilling three years, and a very fast three years.”

Jones credited his players and the school’s athletic department as the team begins preparations for a New Year’s Day contest in the Outback Bowl against Northwestern.

“The University of Tennessee is back to being a commodity when it comes to bowl games,” Jones said.

Jones was not specific Monday if anyone or any other schools have contacted him about hiring his assistant coaches.

“I would expect people to come after our coaches,” Jones said. “That means we’re doing great things. They want the Tennessee brand, they want the Tennessee product.”

Multiple reports have cited Tennessee wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni as a candidate to become the offensive coordinator at Maryland.

Tennessee is headed to back-to-back bowl games for the first time since the 2009-2010 seasons. Last season the Vols beat the Iowa Hawkeyes in the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jones said Monday another January bowl game in Florida points to the progress of the program.

“That was one of the most rewarding things of being here, is being able to gather the football team up in the locker room,” Jones said. “(It) was a little bit different setting than last year, and (to) be able to tell them we were going to play in the 30th anniversary of the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida.”

If you're going to wear a tired joke out, at least be accurate. It's the second time this year the team has been played in a professional team venue.

Obviously the statement was meant as future indicative/non-past-participial ipial, "'will be' the first time"...of/or in "2016". It's the English language -- tough to figure sometimes -- like "next December" and all. blue font

We're going bowling -- Let's just rejoice and be happy, how 'bout it !
