Jones credited his players and the schools athletic department as the team begins preparations for a New Years Day contest in the Outback Bowl against Northwestern.

Tennessee is headed to back-to-back bowl games for the first time since the 2009-2010 seasons. Last season the Vols beat the Iowa Hawkeyes in the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.
Jones said Monday another January bowl game in Florida points to the progress of the program.
That was one of the most rewarding things of being here, is being able to gather the football team up in the locker room, Jones said. (It) was a little bit different setting than last year, and (to) be able to tell them we were going to play in the 30th anniversary of the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida.
