Notes:
-This is a team that isn't going to win the stat battle right now, but we're only concerned with one stat: the win.
-Missouri is averaging 31 points a game and is second in the SEC in total offense.
-Their WR group is as talented as we've faced all year.
-Missouri has only allowed 10 sacks which is tops in the SEC.

-On defense, we had way too many missed tackles against Kentucky. We weren't able to get off blocks. Need to do better with fundamentals. Too much inconsistency in the run game. We gave up the big plays, but when we got in the red zone we were able to force them to kick field goals. That was the difference in the game.
-Great to have Cam Sutton and Alvin Kamara back. Sutton will be better this week just because of the amount of playing time. Very important to have those two captains back dressed and on the field.
-On Josh Dobbs' last game at Neyland: He defines what a student athlete is all about. It starts with character. He's a face of the community.
-Very proud of all the seniors. Will honor 11 seniors this week. Five have already graduated.
-Todd Kelly Jr. has an ankle and he is day-to-day. Will know more this week.
-Drew Richmond has been consistent all year. He's worked very hard in practice. He made tremendous progress. His effort was very, very good last week.
-Dylan Wiesman is day-to-day. Probably a little ahead of TK right now.
-We're 13-3 in our last 16 games. That's a tribute to our seniors.
-Chance Hall is expected to be back at practice today. Will see where he is.
-Josh Smith, Marquez Callaway, Cam Sutton and Alvin Kamara could return punts depending on how the week goes.
-We've had five defensive starters out and had eight different combinations in the secondary. Hard to be consistent with that much turnover.
-On Derek Barnett, watching film that's the first time Butch has seen a guy on the outside get triple teamed. He's a dominant football player.
-Jack Jones will get the cast off soon. Coleman Thomas played one of his better games.
-LaTroy Lewis played one of the best games he's played, on defense and special teams. He's one of these individuals that will do anything and everything for the team.
-Great to get Stephen Griffin back on the field. He's been hampered by injuries all year. Nigel Warrior continues to get better. He's made tremendous strides.

He's really impressed with Josh Smith's ability to signal fair catch at the 10 yard line. 😅

Who remembers 5 years ago when we muffed almost at the same percentage as we actually fielded a punt?

Ah, good times.

Josh decided to try to save some yards at a really, really stupid time in the game. We were up big and unstoppable. The few yards did not warrant the possibility of what happened happening. But I'm incredibly thankful for his fielding percentage, even on fair catches.

That was circa 2005-2008 if I recall correctly

Missouri is averaging 31 points a game and is second in the SEC in total offense.

31 pts per game is including 79 against Delaware State, 61 against E. Michigan, 45 against MTSU, and 11 against WVU. If you just at their 6 SEC games, Mizzou is averaging 19 pts per game on offense and giving up 32 per game on defense.

Can't watch presser until later- did Butch say others would be competing for the returner position? Josh Smith is dangerous back there and not in a good way.

What the h*ll does this mean - "this is a team that isn't going to win the stat battle right now"?

Our third string has more talent than Kentucky/Vandy/Missouri, if we aren't winning the stat battle it his/coaching staff's fault

Once Again Waaaay too many excuses: Hey Butch, how about saying "we got to coach the next guys up" as this is the time to show people that you can actually coach when you don't have superior talent........

Butchy is trying to say his team sucks without saying his team sucks. Well at least his defense sucks. Good Lawd Kentucky ran the train on our defense.

But I could've sworn Jones just called Missouri a "great team" (despite being 3-7) and "a team with great momentum" (just beat 4-6 Vandy to break an 11 game SEC game losing streak).

Hey, come on man, you're screwing up his urgency narrative. Players read this stuff, you know!

I would think most people on here are fed up with the other team is always so awesome BS line. And we will not be scoreboard watching? Really. Does he think these players and coaches live in a glass house. Why don't some of these reporters call him out and say stop with the bullsht.

I'm sure their predecessors got tired of the same when dealing with pretty much every coach in history. Bear Bryant could've taught a course.

Thanks for the sanity check Crazy. I thought those numbers sounded inflated from what I saw of them against SEC action all year.

No coach is ever gonna say "the other team sucks and we should easily beat them down". Especially true when you can't be sure in your own teams abilities to win.

Also, if Florida is losing the game you can be sure the PA will broadcast it to the crowd.

Considering what we've been through the last 10+ years after the being at the pinnacle of college football, UT may have the most resilient fan base in CFB.

Can I get an "Amen" Vol Nation? (and I've been watching since '74)

Saban said Kent St. would be a tough opponent. It's what coaches do.
