"Butch Jones is a Great Recruiter"

He was a great recruiter, he just couldn't develop players after they got here.

....or deal honestly with the media
....or perform game-day coaching
....or perform half-time adjustments
....or deliver on promises to recruits
....or treat fans as if they might (just might) know a little something about football too
....or adjust to big-boy football in the SEC

Other than that, he's a swell guy

Should’ve hired Boston College’s head coach then. Look up how many have been drafted this year. It’s a lot.

Under Jones except for KAMARA/Barnett..We are putting in Marginal players on par with Vanderbilt not even the same stratosphere as Georgia Alabama LSU

Recruiting to Bama? I could do that.

He ain’t the only guy recruiting to Alabama....but he did it better than the rest of em on the staff. Also had to beat out a ton of elite recruiters at FSU, USC, UGA, Ohio State, Texas, etc, etc.

And with all due respect, no you couldn’t.

If you want to know about Butch as a coach. All you have to do is look at Alvin Kamara after he got to a good coach in S. Peyton in NO.

Butch recruited a lot of really good high school players. The problem is that he graduated a lot of really good high school players.

Do what? I disagree. The problem was that he didn’t recruit nearly enough really good HighSchool players, and he didn’t know how to develop the majority of the goods that he did recruit. He put very few players into the NFL to date, so “graduating” the players he recruited was not the primary issue.

I think what he meant is they left the same as they came in. Good high school players.

1 last pick drafted player from a team ranked #1 that made the Playoff. How does that bode for 2018? Wow!

That wasn’t the context of what I responded to. Saying not having a player drafted in the first round in a specific draft doesn’t indicate talent level...Clemson not a correct example?

Remember that? "He needs more time". His 5th year, he puts a whopping one player in the 3rd round. We should have kept him at least one more year.

Your post is stupid. You realize there are only 224 draft spots in 7 rounds, so KMAC, Kelly and Gauldin all went inside the 224 best players coming out of college. We had several more sign with teams as free agents. You have to be pretty damn good to even get that. Jones was a great recruiter but sucked at developing the talent.

The top 64 players drafted are considered the elite players or had elite careers in college. The rest get drafted because they are really good and have a lot of upside.

Stop bring CBJ up, he is gone! Stop bringing Dooley up, he is gone! Stop bringing Kiffin up, he is gone!

Look to the future with JP!

How many guys were drafted that Pruitt helped recruit?

I believe there were 4 in the first round.

I get that Georgia and Alabama basically recruit themselves but Pruitt was an integral part of those guys decision.

Our players didn’t get to the NFL because of Butch Jones they got there in spite of him. Huge difference! Being cautiously optimistic is one thing being blind is another.

You should avoid threads thats have formor coaches names in them and allow people to talk about whatever they want.

The late rounds are filled with a bunch of players that won't make the roster for the team that drafted them. Hell, the Eagles drafted a rugby player as an OL project.

Arian Foster comes to mind! UDFA

Exception to every rule. Like Brady, the greatest NFL QB of all-time, was a 6th rounder. Doesn’t mean all 6th rd picks are gonna be great. By and large, UDFAs rarely even get a roster spot, much less turn into outstanding players.
