I understand what you are saying, but I do not think we are respectable right now. We have talent, but that means squat. We almost lost to UMass.
Talent ain't dittley if you don't know how to coach it to even somewhat decent potential. Butch couldn't scheme his way into his wife pants on their wedding night. Low blow? I don't care, he's wasting our time and making millions while doing it.

The 2011 squad had a similar run of no TDs in October. I thought that would never be beaten.

I was wrong.


Overall Dooley was still worse but Butch is making a run this year.

No. The record says otherwise. Tennessee beat Georgia twice under Butch and Florida once. Tennessee won 3 bowl games under Butch and zero under Dooley. Butch cared about in-state recruiting and Dooley did not.

It doesnt make sense to debate though. Dooley won 4 SEC games. Let me repeat that...Dooley won 4 SEC games period. Butch that many in one year.

Butch just cant take us to where we want to be. He is an average coach. Average wont do at Tennessee.

The way it's going Jones is about to take an ass kicking as well from UK and everyone else on our schedule.

Say what you will about Dooley and his coaching but he never had a team not score a touchdown in two and 3/4 of a game.

That to me makes Jones worse than Dooley. He was just not ready for this type of job, Jones at least had winning seasons at other schools, so he appeared to be a better "qualified" coach, but now looking at the body of work, you don't go through that many assistants and not be a horrible coach, which mind you a lot of people used that same reasoning against Dooley when assistants started taking other jobs

Jones is a worse coach

The relative degree of turdiness is difficult to assess, but I give the nod to Butch. Dooley was bad with little or no talent. Butch is bad with decent talent. So Butch. I can’t believe I’m saying this.....

Which was always a ridiculous comparison since they were coaching two completely different tiers of programs. For that matter, making such a concrete judgment on a one game sample size regardless of the programs involved is ridiculous.

Butch Jones has beaten Mark Dantonio, James Franklin, David Cutcliffe, Frank Solich, Greg Schiano, Paul Chryst, Frank Beamer, Bobby Petrino, Steve Spurrier, Dino Babers (since everyone apparently loves him now), Kirk Ferentz, Pat Fitzgerald, Gary Pinkel, Justin Fuente, Paul Johnson, Kirby Smart, and Mark Richt. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing.

Dooley was a defensive innovator. 13 men on the field was brilliant. Jones is great offensive mind. Shotgun 6 inches from goalline. I say it's a wash. Think

EASILY MOVED OBJECT meets the VERY STOPPABLE FORCE

You may be right. I would yell when I saw Dooley on the cowgirls sidelines at first, but now I can look at him without getting overly sour.

But not Butch, can't look at him. Too soon.

That is not true. In 2011, Tennessee had 5 games where they scored 7 points or less including a 3 game stretch vs Alabama, LSU and SC where they did not score a TD for 11 quarters.

Tyler Bray, AJ Johnson, justin Hunter, and cordarrelle patterson is little or no talent now?! That team lost to Kentucky...

That is why Dooley is one of the worst coaches in TN history if not the worst!

Yes but as I recall that stretch was after Bray broke his thumb and Simms had to be pressed into emergency service. Butch has been equally ****ty with two different QBs. I still think Dooley is a worse coach but not by much.

It's time for Butch to go but those two are not in the same discussion. Dooley literally ran this program into the ground and recruited terribly. I give Butch credit for rolling up his sleeves and taking on this job and get us to at least a respectable level. It's just time for the next guy to take us over the top.

Actually they didn't have Patterson or Hunter when they lost to KY. They still should have won though.
