Butch Jones discussion (merged)

Butch reminds me of an overhyped Derek Dooley

No, he's much dumber than Dooley. He's a hard worker, and he legitimately cares, but he's been Peter Principled, it's not going to work out, the recruiting is going to begin to fade as the cliches get old, so the longer we wait, the worse off we'll be.

Dobbs sucks. Staff has zero confidence in him. He is killing our offense and making us entirely one dimensional.

If it wasn't for Dobbs' athleticism, I doubt we would have been in the Florida game. He is a below average passer, but great in the open field with his elusiveness. It's good with the bad

His wins at Tennessee: Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, South Carolina (twice), Utah State, Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Kentucky (twice), Vanderbilt (once), Bowling Green, and Western Carolina.

Seriously, we don't know where he tops out as far as wins go, but he's certainly not what we, as a fan base, demand. The people who are arguing to keep him are basically saying mediocrity is good enough. I, for one, am tired of getting outgeneraled.

this is pretty amazing if you think about it and this is the facts, it comes down to wins and losses and he is no better than dooley, yes we may look better have more talent more close games but just stop please stop and look at these wins

now go back and look at them wins again and think for a few seconds

do you see what i see

if not maybe you need to go and look again

it is all about the wins and losses and florida georgia and bama are the key games

You, for one, are tired of getting outgeneraled? So to be clear he is not what we as a fanbase demands? I was not at that meeting, what did we demand? Gruden was not interested, John that is. Jay might' be soon enough. Strong turned us down. He may be available soon. Muschamp turned us down. Ditto. Fedora turned us down. He is not available. The guys at TCU and Ok State did not take the call. I don't think Kelly took our call and he is making pretty good money taking crap from his fan base.
So who shall we demand that Hart call now that the coffers finally are finally starting to replenish. Shall we demand the Haslam jet too? Can Bruce Pearl coach football?
So are we saying good game manager that never loses close games to good competition because that might eliminate Peyton. I assume we don't worry about recruiting. Just want to be clear. We had two outstanding top 5 classes. Since we apparently want to scare off a third class with our threats and demands to not be outgeneraled I want to be clear.

The ones that are still supporting Jones at this time? Yes, I agree.

Yeah let's get rid of all of them. Dooley people - there is only 5 or 6. You can tell them because they have impeccable shower etiquette. Kiffin people - there's quite a few of them mostly at car dealerships and keggers (please don't tell the girls' moms and dads). Fulmer people - would Golden Corral go out of business with them. Majors people don't care - they're retired and likely a little drunk.

Can he say Peter Principaled here? Dude you need to dumb it down. I don't think you understand your intended purpose in this little discourse. Can I get a Peter Principal Amen!?

Dumber than Dooley? Wow that would be really f#%+^g dumb. Dooley, a well educated lawyer who worked for a blue stocking firm in Atlanta was an arrogant narcissist (no thanks to Vince and Babs) who practically destroyed recruiting alienating former players and high schools coaches alike .

So should we call Laurence Peter and ask him who would be the best candidate to not confuse the riole of a head coach at a major university? I am sure he could help with this year's recruiting class too since VN wants to scare them off.

I was done with Fulmer after the 2001 season .

I am done with Butch after losing 2 double diget leads in the last half of the 4th qtr this season

As I did with Fulmer, I will cheer for the Vols but I will never respect him as the head coach of the Vols.

The one thing Butch has done, if he is fired this year he would be leaving the state of the program, talent wise, in better shape than it had been in 12-14 years.

Well with that elevated talent base (best in 12-14 years) why should you respect him? Sounds like you cut bait early on people: Fulmer in 2001? We were a game away from playing in another NC. Damn, you're tough. I hope you don't hold yourself to such a rigid standard

Dreaming about two Huge blown leads, but baby I've been, I've been praying hard, hoping for a change, Butch Jones is wasting stars, he wasting lots of stars.

After watching the game, I had a dream of two huge mountains last night

These mountains were covered in a blue haze and Golden rays were coming from above. Between the two mountains were a lovely valley that smelled like fresh cut flowers.

I laid in the valley of the two mountains and was at peace. I didn't want to leave. I woke up and remembered why I had this dream

It was Gator Girl

I already said early on we'd be 7-5, if we're lucky, hoping I'd be wrong, and got my butt chewed by the 10-2 SEC champ NC contender crowd.

Regardless, Butch has made improvements. Mostly marketing and hype and slogans to get the fans and media on board and filling up Neyland, so there's that. And his recruiting.

Cracks in the mortar are showing, though, in game management, play calling, staff hires, and coaching up 4 and 5 star recruits.

So, I'm on the fence. He and team 119 are almost there, but not quite, and definitely not playing up to the hype. Been pretty close in a couple of big, tough games, but close only counts etc.

I say let's see what happens the rest of the season, temper expectations, make some staff adjustments, and give him one more year to make good.

Anything else is another 5-10 years in the wilderness for Tennessee.

Also, fire Hart in the meantime. What a doofus.

I saw that meme on FB this morning and laughed!!
On my phone so can't post the pic, but I saved it for future purpose!!

Yes I am tough when it comes to business. Do your job or hit the highway.

Check out the Tom Black Track celebration when the Vols arrived back in Knoxville the night they beat Florida in 2001. The STUPIDEST thing I have ever saw a coach allow and be part of. Yes I was done with Fulmer that night. I still made my donations, bought tickets, went to games , home and away. I never respected the coach after that night but I still cheered for him and the Vols. If you take a real good look at the Tennessee program, it was on on slow downhill decline from that night to the day Fulmer was fired.

As far as Butch goes he is a great recruiter but constantly gets out coached in games. In 3 seasons and 4 games, Jones biggest win is beating a South Carolina team, think about that, South Carolina. I no longer am able to attend the games as I once did. I will cheer for Butch and the Vols as long as he is the coach. If I am still alive when he is replaced I will cheer for that coach and the Vols in every game they play.

The University pays these guys millions of dollars to put a quality product on the field and not embarrass the University. If they can not do their job their is someone out there that can and will do the job. It is a job, I love the program , not the coach.
