An NFL team will take Jalen Hurd. He's too physically talented for teams to just disregard him. If I had to judge him before this season, I would have said he's a solid round 3 to round 5 pick, depending on workouts (as high as round 2 with a sub-4.5 40 and 35"+ vertical). This season was his opportunity to keep producing and prove he was a steady workhorse, instead he's proven he's inconsistent and has a poor attitude. It's true NFL teams don't want to deal with this, but we have seen worse guys than him get drafted late. I'm guessing he's a round 7 to UDFA, probably off a couple teams boards, and with good workouts probably a round 6. He's not going to be able to work out at UT's Pro Day, so he's going to have to latch on to another team's pro day or just stand on what he does at the combine (if he is invited).
While it's a shame to see a kid quit on his team, it's really just sad to see a kid clearly get bad advice on how to handle his future. It may not be his mom, it may be friends or other relatives who are fueling a fire that's already there. He's not getting this advice from an agent, any agent would tell him to stick it out and ride the pine if necessary.
