Hurd may be thinking this way: The RB position has been devalued--generally--in the NFL. There are still a few big backs in the game, but pro football is a passing game. Tight ends are a much bigger deal in the NFL now than RBs. So I think that idea has got into his head, one way or another. I still think he could be a productive NFL back--he can run and catch passes. It is risky move for him--and a cowardly one. He's quit on the team, and there is no excuse for that. I didn't figure him for a prima donna--but that's what he's become, apparently--like Williams, a kid who grabbed his toys and left because he wasn't a starter. Hurd is doing the same thing. For two high-profile guys to quit during the season is BS.

Did Hurd not recognize throughout spring and fall camp that the offense was the same?

Well--then why in the H-E-%-# did we show the off-set I formation and Dobbs under center in the bowl game at the end of last year????

Was Jones attempting to appease HURD to prevent him from transferring???

Why do you show that formation and never run it again before or since that one game???

Prudence and common sense would conclude that JONES obviously was attempting to prevent Hurd from leaving the team.......before signing 2016 class of recruits....

Here is a thought.. Kongbo and Hurd both got in a huge fight over who's the real number 1 on the team. Hurd got whipped and quit and Kongbo hung his cleats up for him and took a nice picture to remind jalen who is the real number 1 is. Jalen leaves with an uncertain future, and Kongbo has nothing but room to grow. Of course this is all just bologne, but it's more fun than a big baby quitting and a FIFA game.

what school in their right mind is going to take on Hurd and his wishes to change positions with only one year of eligibility?

A starter pulling himself out of a game and quitting the team in October speak's volumes.

Agreed... I really want to give Hurd the benefit of the doubt, but this looks really bad for all involved.

It wasn't a statement of fact. It was me guessing why the heck a kid quit in October... which is a highly unusual decision.

It sunk in he was too tall.

Whether the hits from our dumb formation did this or not I don't know but he is banger up all over.

He feels he may have outgrown the RB role.

He doesn't trust our coaches though. They lied to him during the recruiting phase and flat out tricker him last bowl game.

He is not a diva. He ain't a choir boy but he's not kelly Washington 2.0.

If there was any trust with our coaches he would switch to TE or LB here instead of somewhere else. Yes, LB is a potenial position that was at least thrown out there.

I don't think he was ever actually injured. Not for UGA, and not for A&M. Have been saying it all along. Weird that he sat out all 2nd half of UGA with a "lower extremity" injury and miraculously recovered for the last kickoff. He wouldn't have come back in, especially if it was a concussion, which was the only excuse for why he didn't travel with the team to A&M. Lower extremity became concussion to fit that narrative

That doesn't answer my question. Did Hurd not recognize the offense was the same throughout spring and fall camp? It would be fairly obvious you'd think.

THis was already proven at the Tex A&M game.

Yeah--how many fumbles did that tandem produce that affected the OUTCOME?????

It just boggles the mind that people cannot see that when they evaluate the aTm game......as good as Kamara and Kelly ran the ball--IT STILL WAS A LOSS--and those TWO contributed heavily to that TEAM LOSS!!!

You have to consider good and bad when you evaluate....Just HOW MANY FUMBLES has HURD had in his career???

Just means that Kamara is going to play his a** off when he returns to improve draft stock. And John Kelly, Fils-Aime, and Ty Chandler are going to be the future speed that this offense needs.

Good luck Jalen. Thanks for two and a half years of service.

Really? Dude was on track to break UT's all-time rushing record in his Jr. year. THe offensive scheme hasn't changed in those 3 years. THe issue isn't with Jones or the staff not preparing Hurd for the NFL, the issue is an attitude problem with Hurd. Winners never quit, quitters never win.
Good post. In fact, this is the same scheme he had 1300 yds a year ago..

Best of luck to Hurd but Kelly has been the more effective runner this year and has earned his snaps. Kelly and Kamara still give the Vols a dangerous backfield.

lots of talent--but FUMBLES do indeed make them dangerous....

Amazing how people on this site CRUCIFIED FOSTER for his key FUMBLES and COMPLETELY PASS OVER Kamara and Kelly's FUMBLES......:crazy::crazy:

I just don't see in what universe this makes sense for him at this point. It's not advantageous to his football career at all. Maybe last year, but now? I'm seriously wondering about mental health.
