People say butch was the 4th or 5th coach asked. He is 8th in pay in the sec. when you bargain shop at the dollar tree for coaches you get what you pay for.

We've got to rip this band aid off. It's not going to do anyone any good to keep trotting Jones out every week as leader of the team. The players, recruits, and fans know he's done. Butch knows he's done too. I think he burned out after last year when we had all that talent and still couldn't get close to winning the East.

All I care about at this point is getting the right guy in place for the future and winning at least 2 more games so we keep that streak alive.

I'll pay for the damn moving truck.

I've been of the opinion to hire the new coach behind the scenes and let Butch finish, but that's gone.

Not many take this into consideration.^^^^^^ TN has never paid for a big time coach here. It's always the "up and comers" dollar tree deals.

This is my concern that we will go the same route no matter what the AD wants to do.

The $$$ boosters at UT are cheap when it comes to coaches.

So.you're cool.with replacing one inept coach with another? We've seen enough of Jones and Fulmer coaching to last all of our lifetimes.

If butch gets fired after this season , will UT go after chip Kelly or Jon gruden???

We've beat Ga Tech, U Mass, Ind St... Maybe we can beat S. Miss and Missouri...That is five wins. Where do you realistically see more wins????

Stupid talk about replacing him with Fulmer. There are several coaches on the current inept staff that have head coaching experience.

Why in the hell would anyone in their right mind suggest Fulmer as interum coach?????

Finally a rational post. 9.2 million is no small amount especially when your athletic department just got back in the black a few years ago. This also doesn't count the new coaches contract and if he is coaching somewhere else his buyout.

Hate to say it...no I don't. This all goes back to Mike Hamilton the worst AD ever.

If UT operates like usual, butch will be here next year and we will see this ship sink and the program will be run into the ground before they make a change. At that point, it will be harder to get a big name to come in and do a full rebuild job and we are stuck with another butch type.

Hopefully they have learned from past mistakes and can make a change NOW while we are still marketable. If not, they will lose more than that $9 mil. Besides if butch gets another job by 2021 then his salary is deducted from the pay out. So it might not actually be $9 mil. It could be half that.

Despite these losses, based on our programs track record, I still have a hard time seeing them fire Butch if we manage 7 wins. However on our current trajectory 7 wins would be a turnaround...
