I think CBJ has the SEC mindset of clogging the line and controlling it. Take a look at our freshman DB's this year and then see what we having coming in for the front 8. This D could be Very very good in a couple of years. I really don't believe we will be getting beat to much longer on the edge. I think this 2014 class will be remember for not only winning but for getting our D back to where it should be! Thoughts?

Coach Fulmer has always said the 2 most important positions on a football team are quarterback and defensive tackle. He said if you are stout at both of those positions, you'll win a lot of football games! The DT position and controlling the line of scrimmage really is what separates the SEC from most of the rest of college football.

Agreed.... A good line can take so many options away...I think we're headed in that direction with the size and speed we are getting from our commits.

Step 1: Recruiting

Step 2: Player Development

Good first step for Butch for sure. So far step 2 is occurring with the current players so it's easy to assume it will continue.

Let's hope we get some W's!

Just get a couple more DTs, one WR, the berry twins, a RB perhaps and I'll be one happy camper that is camping in the forest with my wife and beer, cheers.

Exactly. Hell look at Auburn when they won a few yrs ago. The Cam and Nick Farrelly, they both dominated at QB and DT and are probably a 6-7 win team just without those 2 alone.

A RB? We have Jalen and Paulk.. What more could you ask?!

We do need one more. Both guys are out for the yr with injuries. Hopefully both come back better than before but it's still concerning having those 2a coming off injury, Lane having injury problems as well.

Depth is always needed at RB. Additionally, they have both suffered injuries and after Lane leaves next year you have Tom Smith and Alden Hill who have actually played.

Are there coaches that set out to recruit for a bend-but-don't-break defense or a porous defense?

Yes the defense will be beast. It looks like we will be innovating offenses strategy too. One running back, one quarterback, three offensive lineman, and six wide receivers on the field at all times

I was a linebacker and I can say that a good DT is worth their weight in gold! I am so excited for this team and what is being built on the hill.
