Butch will have to have more than one losing season to get fired. Doing otherwise would put off any quality coach that would be considered as a replacement. Any new coach will want a stable and non-precipitous administration. That is why he will be here next year regardless of this season's record.
Measure it to Fulmers last five years. Things went bad for Fulmer, but look at his SEC record his last five years, the same amount of time Butch has had.The fact that Butch is sub-.500 in SEC play in year five is cause enough for termination. Two losses to Vandy, 0-5 against Bama in two weeks, and getting blown out in Neyland are just fuel for the fire.
He has to go or we might as well accept being the Mississippi schools of the East.

Fulmer went 24-16 vs SEC his last five years and we fired him for not winning enough. Let that sink in for a moment. Take out 2004, and you have 2005-08 which is considered the worst era of the Fulmer years, and he was still 17-15 against the SEC.
Again- let that sink in for a moment. We arent even as good as Fulmer at his worst, who was canned for not winning enough.
Get it all out of your system Butch is not going anywhere this year or next year.
Think that the condition of the program in the years before Butch came to Tennessee are equivalent to the shape of the program in the early 2000's?
