Then what you're saying completely contradicts the OP's premise, the thread title at least. 8-9 wins a year is not a championship program.

Any championship or only a national championship?

I could see Butch winning an SEC championship, but a national championship is much much much harder to do.

People act like it's so easy if you're a good coach, no it's not easy no matter who you are. Even if you're Saban and have the best players every year you can't repeat every year because it's freaking difficult. Just to win an SEC championship it's basically 1 in 10 in any given year (usually because there are at least 4 really really bad teams who have no chance).

Clearly still plenty to work on like how to finish a game but this team is close. As frustrating as it is we are very, very close to having wins against Oklahoma, Florida and Bama this season. Like Butch said no moral victories but we are close to being Tennessee football again!

Troll? You might want to check my stats; I've been attending games since 1980, I and have contributed more to this forum than you can even possibly fathom.

Folks like you don't understand the game or the progress this team has made well enough to discuss the game intelligently; therefore, you slam and insult the team playing the game that you obviously never did.

LOL! There is a big difference in the trajectories of the programs. Ours is up, their's is down.

Furthermore, it's entirely possible...no LIKELY....that Jones goes 13-5. He's about to go on a 5-0 run, and I can't see him going worse than 8-5 between next regular season and the bowl game will undoubtedly are going to.

Heck...13-5 isn't even that great. I'm pretty sure he will do better.

You should be careful with that "dolt" word. You don't really seem to have much going on upstairs yourself. This is not hard to figure out!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't think people realize how far our program had fallen when Butch took over.

We basically lost an entire recruiting class when Kiffin screwed us. Then we hired the man in the yellow hat who didn't recruit an offensive lineman for two years. The Hamilton Regime killed this football program. It's slowly being resurrected though.

You just don't get it. I'm not bashing the team. I am replying to the OP stating that Butch is building a championship program. He is not. I don't like Butch. Never have never will. Do you need a hug? Cause I'm not the only poster you've been bashing in this thread. Yes a DT/QB that isn't rolled out is a pocket passer. Bama was blitzing up the gut. So the smart choice with a DT/QB is to roll him out and avoid the rush. Not to sit in a pocket looking down field. Dobbs is a beast when makes things happen on his own and give himself time to make plays.

First - it is games like this one and the other 2 or 3 single digit losses that makes a man, a team, and a fan base hungry

Second - it is close wins against ranked teams that makes a man, a team, and a fan base hungry

Butch has this team, this fan base, and this program H_U_N_G_R_Y to win again

Do not be surprised if we sign nothing but O Linemen this recruiting cycle...we are SO close !!!

That's a good assumption! You obviously overrate your knowledge of the game and others on this board.

No one here is happy with a loss, but they aren't taking a close, hard fought loss to a top 10 team to mean the program is collapsing.

You are completely missing the point. This thread isn't about wins and losses. Not directly. It's about team development and signs of progress toward a larger end goal.

You're free to go cry about today's loss in any of a dozen other threads tailor made for that.
