Really, really proud of Butch and our Volunteers today. They walked into the heart of the Inbred Nation and stood toe to toe for sixty full minutes with a very good Top 10 team. They fought from the opening kick right down to the final seconds, and never quit.

They weren't perfect. Josh shoulda had eyes in the back of his head on a couple of those sacks; the OLine certainly shoulda protected him better at times. Medley is definitely in a sophomore slump, and may need to sit out a game or two to break out of it. Cam uncharacteristically gave up two big pass plays, and Moseley got torched badly once. The OLinemen are still too fidgety with the snap. Did I mention Medley's slump? DeBord and Jancek each had one or two calls I'm sure they'd like a mulligan on, and Butch should've gotten a little more creative than trying for 50-yard FGs with Medley in the funk he's in.

No, none of them were perfect. But they were all awesome, nonetheless. They walked into Bama's house, strode right up to them until their noses were just about touching, and told the crimson elephants to bring it. And then they stood right there with them, answering every challenge, showing just as much skill and guts and strength and smarts as the #8 in the country. They wore Orange like a mantle, and represented it oh so well.

I'm proud of each of these young men, and all their coaches, too. I'm proud of Butch. I can't wait to see how we close out 2015, looking forward to 9-4 after a good bowl win.

We're just about there. So close you can hear it breathing. Butch is building us a championship program.

This program has been jinxed since the 2007 SEC Championship nail-biter loss to LSU. Yes, that is exactly how long it has been since the Vols have been 10-4.

Maybe and maybe not, but this group of guys is light years ahead of where Dooley had us...and the most progress l see, is we didn't fold - against GA or AL...and that right there, tells me we are headed in the right direction.

Great post OP. While Jones and Hall have bright futures, we missed Robertson and Kendrick (and don't forget Marcus Jackson). The backbreaking play that sealed the game was given up by a true freshman. Let that sink in.. I know nobody wants to hear the youth excuse, but how in the world can you expect 2 true freshmen to not slip up a few times against the Bama DL. It happened at the worst possible time.

Mad props to our players and coaches. Played a solid game for 4 quarters. I know it sucks always saying "next year", but we are making progress. I don't think anybody can argue that.
