I predicted about 8-4 and it looks like that's where we'll land. But I'm more down on Butch now than I was at the beginning of the year because the way we are winning and the way we are losing have shown me that Butch's ceiling is about 9 wins. There are just too many better coaches in the league that are able to do more with equal or better athletes.

He got that last year.. We shouldn't give raises every year when you make 3.5 million.. And if his agent starts talking other schools, call his bluff. Yes I think he's done the job to get us back respectable now win some more big games.. Beat a rallied Mizzou team that's gonna be dangerous win out and go to a ok bowl.. 9-4. Next year when he wins the east give him that.. Not this year fellas

It's not hard getting to a bowl game anymore. Everyone plays 12 games and you have to win 6. And this year they are saying it's possible some 5-7 teams could get into bowls. Not taking away from what Butch has done but if we do win out half our our opponents may not even get to a bowl. Point is just getting to a bowl isn't enough at UT.

you must be referring to Texas when you say UT. At Tennessee, back to back bowls is grounds for a statue, renaming the stadium and 20 year extensions. Butch should be the highest paid coach in the country. Saban couldn't get us in back to back mediocre bowl games! You're a nega if you think otherwise and clearly not a true VFL.

nada. He makes 3.5 million to maybe get Tennessee to 8 regular season wins? That was the standard this year. He's going to have to stumble to get there.

If he really does look into VT or anyone else that shows interest, call his bluff. Finances and the roster are much more secure now, so it will be a lot easier to bring in a new coach this time around.

I don't think it's realistic to can him yet, nor am I sure it's even warranted at this point. But he's done nothing to deserve another raise.

Let me apologize up front for the length of my below post but i don't post often but for the most part I enjoy reading all your post and visit this site 3-4 times a day.

Let me preface my comments by stating I'm 49 years old and although my kids say I'm old, I like to think I'm still 20. I only mention my age because many post throughout the forum topics people question a posters age (uniform topic as an example). And since I mentioned it...I have no problem with alternate uniforms. Leave that up to the players.

No...Jones should not get a raise. I am a Jones supporter cause he is our coach and at this time the right coach for us! I try not to dwell in the past but let's do just that real quick.

During the Dooley years most post said something like this...I just want us to be comp. in games again. That for the most part never happened.

Kitten came in and gave us hope but left us with our pants around our ankles.

Along comes Jones. During year 1 and 2 it was the same post about wanting to be competitive again and can we make a bowl He accomplished that so now it becomes...we should be 9-1 instead of 6-4. Maybe we should be BUT we are not. It's the way the ball bounces. The football gods want us to be at 6-4 so we are.

I already see post saying Jones will be a 8-10 team win coach per year but he will not get us the NT. Oh my god...please...how soon we forget the Dooley years and "I just want to be competitive again"

Again...Jones doesn't deserve a raise HOWEVER he does deserve our support. Back to back bowl games and top 5 recruiting classes and some of you still aren't happy. A 9 or 10 win season next year and a raise it should be. Oh...that's right...some of you want instant gratification. For the most part the real world doesn't work like that. GO VOLS!

I just googled top 10 football head coaches available and I like what we have. Who does these jack wagons want us to get. Utah states coach. How about another from one of those smaller Louisiana schools that worked out last time. Steve Spurrier loves UT maybe he can get 12 wins next year. John Gruden!!!! Mike Bobo, Charlie Strong, Yeah this is stupid I know. If only we would have hired Will Muschamp or Lane Kiffin would have stayed we could be dancing and singing Rocky top all night long. I could have put this in paragraphs to make it easier to read, but whos gona read this anyway. Butch please.

You're the exact reason our team lost all those close games. You're negativity infected the cosmos and caused us to lose. How dare you?

Others sit on their couches and give their all, helping to create a positive safe space for our team to work in.

You're a shameful..shameful human being and you should apologize to Butch right now. He's the only one that loves UT. Nobody else wanted us and you better be glad we got him or he'd be at Colorado right now.

Why don't you go cheer for Alabama or something and leave this team to the true Vol fans. The Vol fans who will fill the stands and support the coach even if he lost every game. Winning isn't everything, its having a coach that will never leave us ever, ever again

Only on VN would we predict in the offseason that we would win about 8 games.

Then when we win 8 games, everyone blames the coach.

It short-sided, not looking at the long-term future thinking like this that has plagued UT athellets. When Butch leaves for one of the other vacancies then who do we hire? Do you remember Derek Dooley? When you have your coach, you pay him and his staff.

Butch makes 3.6 million/year, does this season deserve a raise, I think not, considering his coaching performance and games he should have won this year.

When i said Florida i was jokingly referring to all the s*** luck they seem to have when it comes to every aspect of football from coaching all the way down to their execution of plays and calls on the field from the refs. It's comical really!
