Butch Deserves More Time In Spite of Struggles

butch would have to take his hands off the wheel for that to happen...and i don't see that happening.

You might be right, Jake. I hope you're wrong, but I share your concern.

Unfortunately for Butch, if he's not able to "relinquish control" a bit, it's going to mean he's out of a job at the end of next season. Don't think there are two ways about this. DeBord really needs to go and we need a top caliber OC that can get us to the promised land.

unfortunately there's no one on The Hill that can have that conversation with him.

and he's proven to be a very stubborn coach, as most coaches are by nature. if he were going to be a "hands off" coach, so to speak, he wouldn't have hired Deboard to begin with.

that's the thing about all this...and i don't necessarily hate deboard. it's not like he came in and said "hey butch, i've got this power spread option thingy i want to try out..."....he's running Butch's offense.

and until that disconnect happens, i don't see much changing.

truthfully, for me, the thing that has to happen....we simply have to get better, and waaaaaaay more physical, on the offensive line. that would solve a lot of problems.

The more I think about it, based upon what I've heard, I expect him to leave on his own before he can get fired. Getting fired will be the end of his sales pitch. He'll have nothing left to sell another program....he can't sell his coaching, his record, and a deeper look at recruiting diminishes that pitch.

He has the perfect window, with no legit AD in place, to cut his losses and run for the hills before the story he can tell changes drastically. If he's back next year the microscope he'll be under will be constant. He cannot stand up to that scrutiny. This is why I believe he's looking for a lifevest and getting ready to abandon ship. It's less about the buyout and salary, than the ability to continue being a head coach in the future.
I hope your right on your analysis!

Butch only deserves what he is earned.
He may be a champion at life but he can't coach.
There is NO CHANCE we win more than 8 games next year ( and I doubt we get 8) with this coaching staff.
It isn't going to happen. Knowing this, what honestly are we waiting for (besides a new AD to do it)?
Dead man walking

If you stuck a knife on a football you could stab everyone of our DBs in the back because they never turn and look for the ball. That's good coaching.

Lecturing me on civility while calling me junior and an insider? Interesting.

It is my experience in life that people become defensive when they say something they are not confident in and someone questions them on it. So let me rephrase my question. What have you seen that I have not that gives you confidence that Butch Jones has the ability to improve this poorly coached football team?
Said nothing about Butch Jones. It's your reading comprehension that needs help.

Guess that would be great if I knew what you were reffering to.

OK...I was referring to my confidence in the powers that be (whenever we name the AD), Board of Trust, etc. to make the right decisions regarding CBJ & OTHER deficiencies in the Athletic Department. Pardon my sentence structure. Now return to your world. :hi:

Return to me world? That another example of the civility you preach about.?

Hope you get your wish for Christmas. You are obviously needing attention, but you're getting no more from me.

Good, as long as whatever you are trying to say makes sense in your head, becuase I dont a clue what you are talking about and havent for the last several post.

So see ya later

Back in the day Jones would have been fired on the spot after the Vandy whipping. That was never considered because it never happen.

Not really. Yes we didn't win the east. We actually finished 2 games off the mark, tied KY and finished 1 game ahead of SC and Vandy.

There have been plenty of discussions on this board going all the way back to Appy St about the football that was being played above the W/L record.

Some blew it off and are now surprised at the finish others realized that this team was undisciplined and poorly coached and were not surprised at the dumpster fire finish because they didn't see it changing.

^This.....I was so excited about this team this year and after the APP ST. game I was in total shock and in disbelief how badly the team had progressed (or didn't) from last year.

A lot of us came on here and tried to discuss our concerns and were shut down by the pro-butchers and sunshine pushers.

Now that this season has all but come to an end, I can't believe a lot of the fans on here are still defending the coaching staff. It just confounds me.

From trying to make Dobbs a pocket passer instead of letting him create to the whole debacle with Jalen. I recently went back and looked at Jalens highlight film from his 2012 season at Beech and 80 %+ of the formations he ran out of was the "I" formation. So, I have no doubt about Jones telling him they were going to run out of the "I" more at the end of last year.

...To fix a problem, you first have to admit you have one.
