so what your saying is Nick Saban pulled this stunt and so now when every coach says no thanks that means they are actually saying yes?

Umm...no. They are saying no to get media off their back. Sometimes it's real, sometimes it isn't. Who knows.

if UT has made an offer to CBD,do you think he got pissed off because his name is all over the place ? instead of waiting for the end of the season

Bummer, Oh well I am glad that he's happy in chapel hill...Guess that's another marked off the list...The list is getting smaller folks...Hope We don't get desperate and hire someone like Brewster...My god what a disaster that would be....This search stuff is getting tense

I would rather have Kiffin over Davis. I can think of probably 3 other realistic canidates I would rather have than Davis.

This is typical coach speak, Davis isn't dumb enough to come out and say that he is interested in the job. I'll wait until the season is over to believe that he is not interested. I actually believe that Gruden is not interested though. I still say that it will be either Davis or Kiffin, I hope I am right because both of them would be an excellent hire in my opinion.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina and coach Butch Davis agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2014 season, school officials said Thursday.
Davis also will receive a raise of $291,000 that will push his annual income to about $2.1 million. The raise and extension are expected to be approved next week by the university's board of trustees.

Davis is 3-8 in his first season in Chapel Hill, but had been rumored as a possible candidate at Arkansas — his homestate university — if the Razorbacks make a coaching change. Davis has repeatedly denied interest in any other jobs during the past month.

"My family and I felt like Chapel Hill was the right place last year, and are even more convinced after being here for one season," Davis said. "I'm confident we will continue to make progress in all phases of the football program."

Davis said he looked forward to a long, successful career at the university, adding: "This should put to rest any speculation of where I'll be coaching in the future."

Well, in that case....Bring on Kiffin or Will

UT still hunting Davis despite denial

Despite an adamant denial that he is interested in being Tennessee’s next football coach, North Carolina’s Butch Davis is still being considered a candidate.

While it is unknown if Davis will eventually accept the job, his public statements on Wednesday during the weekly ACC teleconference aren’t likely the final word.

“I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the University of Tennessee job,” Davis said. “It’s a great job but I have no interest in it.

“As I’ve said for the last couple of weeks I love being here. My family loves being at Carolina. We’re building and with the administration we’re doing everything we can every single day to build a championship football program here.”

Davis said his agent, Jimmy Sexton, had not fielded any inquires from Tennessee officials about possible interest in the UT job.

It’s worth noting that another Sexton client, Nick Saban, famously said and repeated, “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach,” before leaving the Miami Dolphins shortly thereafter and then becoming the head football coach at Alabama.

A source with knowledge of the hiring process said Davis is ‘still in the picture.’

The News Sentinel has reported Davis is UT’s preferred candidate to replace coach Phillip Fulmer, who will step down at the end of the season.

Davis’ team could surely live without such distractions. The Tar Heels are 7-2 heading into Saturday’s game at Maryland. North Carolina leads the Coastal Division with a 3-2 ACC record.

I still believe Davis is a big possibility. Just like Jimmy Hyams said today, what is he suppose to say when asked if he is interested in the UT job. He can't say yes I am interested. This would destroy his teams season, and he is in the hunt for an ACC title. That would be a huge mistake and he knows it. I will not believe he is really not interested until we hire another coach.

Davis is no longer a possibility..He has made it clear he's not interested...He's not Saban, Some coaches actually keep their words...Davis I believe is one of those...I wish him a lot of luck at UNC...Let's move on

What the hell are you talking about. All coaches do that during the season. It would be terrible of him to say anything different during the season. He is showing class and if he comes here it will not diminish him at all. His current team is still trying to win the ACC.
