If you believe that, then please name the Davis recruits who are much better than Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree. I can't think of any.

Ray Lewis (LB), Yatil Green (WR), Kenard Lang (DE), Kenny Holmes (DE), Duane Starks (CB), Edgerrin James (RB), Bubba Franks (TE), Dan Morgan (LB), Damion Lewis (DT), Santana Moss (WR), Reggie Wayne (WR), Bryant McKinnie (OT), Jeremy Shockey (TE), Phillip Buchanon (CB), Ed Reed (S), Mike Rumph (CB), Andre Johnson (WR), Jerome McDougle (DE), Willis McGahee (RB), William Joseph (DT), Sean Taylor (S), Kellen Winslow II (TE), Jonathan Vilma (LB), D.J. Williams (LB), Vernon Carey (OT), Vince Wilfork (DT), Antrel Rolle (CB), and Kelly Jennings (CB)

im not trying to be a jerk, but lets be realistic. i want a coach who won a super bowl a national title, or a conference title, butch davis hasnt done that. dont you want more for volunteer football? i know i sure do.
His 2001 Miami team is considered to be the best team in the history of college football.

Also, 3-4 years back, what the hell were the Tar Heels doing in football? They were terrible. They are 6-2 with below average talent, despite being in the ACC, there are teams a lot more "talented"

But they are handling business nonetheless. I'd like to see what he can do with our guys. It wouldn't take him long at UT if it took him 2 years at UNC

Ken Dorsey was recruited by Butch Davis and he was a finalist for the Heisman, twice. In one year, the Butch Davi led Hurricanes had 4 future NFL tailbacks on their roster. Frank Gore, Najeh Davenport, James Jackson, and Edgerrin James.

did he win a title with that team.

Davis left for the Browns after the 2000 season, and Coker was holding the clipboard for '01. I believe the reference to Davis' '01 team refered to the team he built, as he did not coach it.

yep, and if he would've stayed they could've won a few more NCs.

Butch has a resume unlike any other. I really do not understand how some can possibly argue and name another "flavor of the week" coach.

does it matter? He coached them at Miami. Butch has been at UNC for 2 seasons, Leach has been a Tech for about 8.

I think it matters that Davis was recruiting from the football hotbed of Miami. I don't know where Leach has been getting his recruits from, but I doubt that many recruits coming out of high school see West Texas as a glamorous place to play college ball. Yet, Leach has worked wonders with the talent he's landed and his greatest accomplishments have come in recent history, not 1991. Hell, even Fulmer was considered a decent coach in the early nineties. Davis wouldn't be a bad hire, but I worry about that bout with cancer he had last year. For all I know, he may still be undergoing chemotherapy. Mike Hamilton should look closely at his health status before giving Davis the rubber stamp.

Davis has already pulled a few recruits away from Fulmer. He'd be a good recruiter if his school were located in Antarctica.

what would it really take to lure BD or ML away from their respective programs? I mean their sitting in middle of the bank's vault with no guards on duty.I just think it's false hope, just dont see it happening. I really hope I'm proven wrong, would love to see either one in orange! What do you think, HAT? love to read your coaches analyzation.

He already took tests, he has no evidence of cancer left in his body so that's not a problem. Butch would turn our program into a power overnight something that would take years with Leach.
