guys please give up on the pro coaches coming to UT! Cowher is getting paid nice money to be in booth right now, and when a job opens he will make around 8mil!!

can someone please explain to me why everyone is on the cowher bandwagon really what has he done in the amount of years in the nfl i think he had one superbowl and his replacement is better than he was so cowher would not be a good hire.
LMMFAO. Just stop. DUMB doesn't begin to describe your post.

I know one thing, Hamilton won't have to beg anyone to take this job. It should be the other way around.

The funny thing isabout 10 minutes after the press conference, someone went on wikipedia and put Cowher as the front runner for the UT job......talk about telepathy:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

149-90 record in nfl games

8 Divisional Titles

Made the Nfl playoffs 10 out of the 15 years he was in Pittsburgh

2 AFC Championships (6 AFC Championship appearances)

1 Super Bowl Championship (2 Super Bowl appearances)

What part of this exactly don't you understand?

Exactly... he's OBVIOUSly not a good coach. Psh, why on earth would anyone jump on that bandwagon? ridiculous.......

Bill Cowher was the one who resurrected the steel curtain defense and can coach with the best. If we got him we would have to lock him under an iron clad contract because given the state of several NFL teams I am sure they too are knocking on his door. I personally do not feel we can match the money needed to get the Cow man to sniff at UT for his services. The Cleveland Browns are in trouble and Cowher will probably go there where he learned the game under Paul Brown.

Davis took a problem that was in complete disarray, and built it up to national championship caliber. And now he's come back and taken ANOTHER program in a shambles to the point where it's competitive in two years. If he stays at UNC for another year or two, he'll win the conference. How many coaches have done two complete rebuild jobs like that at I-A programs?

Tommy Bowden, Dennis Franchione, Rich Brooks, and Steve Sloan?

My point is...what he did at Miami 10 years ago is completely irrelevant. Otherwise, we wouldn't be getting rid of the coach that won the national championship 10 years ago. All Butch Davis has done recently is (potentially) have one winning season at a school that used to be decent.

I'm not remotely sold...plenty of coaches have taken losing teams and had winning seasons. That's what's expected when you take a job at a losing school. If he had turned a Vanderbilt team into national championship caliber, yeah, but we're talking Miami.

Not sold on Butch Davis yet either.....

With UT's money, facilities and heritage we will attract a good coach...we just need to pick the right one and not one out of desperation...

Paul Brown quit the Browns when Cowher was 4. He coached under Schottenheimer at Cleveland. But considering he just bought a house there...

The major qualm about Cowher is that he has no college experience. However, the major difference is when it comes to recruiting. I highly doubt Bill Cowher would have trouble recruiting. He's Bill Freaking Cowher. I think he'll be back in the NFL, though, with the Bengals or Browns.

The idiot owner of the Bungals, Mike Brown has said that Marvin Lewis has a job there for as long as he wants it.

So...we hire him based on what he did 10 years ago?

Because I know I guy that won 2 SEC championships and a national championship 10 years ago...oh wait, we just got rid of him.

Again, what am I missing? How is this an improvement over Fulmer? He's had 1 winning season this entire decade.

:) Could not have said it better...... Excellent point!!!

i am absolutely speechless.

A bunch of coaches will express fake interest and get their agent to negotiate a new pay package at their schools, just like Tommy bowden did at clemson last year when the arkansas job came open.

Unfortunately for them, it's probably true. I've seen teams succeed with tons of chemistry but no discipline (Cowboys/80's Miami) and I've seen teams succeed with no chemistry but tons of discipline (early 00's Ravens), but I've never seen them succeed with neither. Marvin Lewis doesn't know the meaning of discipline...

Of course they are all interested.... think about it being "interested" in the coaching business usually lands you a raise some way or another. We may get one of these, but I am guessing they all get raises.

Butch Davis would be a home run. Those of you that are discounting him have no idea WTF you are talking about. He's a top-knotch recruiter. He landed Marvin Austin in his 1st year at UNC. We don't need to rehash all of his players at Miami. One other thing, he can coach. Land Butch Davis, and we are better off from day 1.

I would love Cowher or Chucky, but I think they are pipe dreams.

:eek:k: Here, Here :good!: :clapping:

Uhhhhhh..... Well lets see..... Cliff notes version: UM on terrible probation, makes them respectible again, bolts for NFL and Larry Coker wins NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BUTCH's PLAYERS..... and should have won at least 2! The run UM was on in the early 2000's was with BUTCH DAVIS's PLAYERS..... A run very similar to USC even with Larry friggin Coker!

So far, all I see is evidence that he can get players. What I haven't seen evidence of is championships. Fulmer could get players too? See where that got him.
