Butch contacting commits?

Not true. In my opinion this should violate the terms of his buyout - if his contract was worth the paper it was printed on.

I didn't say it was right nor that it shouldn't be grounds for buyout reduction or termination off the buyout but it does happen and happens more times than not when a coach is bitter about the firing. Our last two head coaches both did it and with some easy googling I was able to find several other coaches accused of the same thing so true.

I know this pisses us off but I bet this is common when coaches are fired and have recruited people for the next year

It is common. And if a coach was leaving elsewhere to come here, the same practice would be fine with these people. It doesn't bother me at all. I expected it.

Kiffen and Ogeron pulled the same crap.

Exactly. Which begs the question, why didn’t Currie and UT Lawyers put in any coaches contract that upon dismissal or resignation they forfeit a substantial portion of their buyout, or all of it, if they engage in conduct detrimental to the University and it’s athletic program to include contacting recruits/current commits or making statements that purposely impact the University in a negative manner?

Dooley recruiting to Dallas?

Kiffin didn't get fired. No buyout in question.

Well I was talking about Jones since he is a past coach not Dooley, he would be in the last three, and the point stands with Kiffin even with him quiting. He and Coach O were both contacting recruits.

The idiot should have other things to do today -- like finding some new clothes - contacting a realtor - telling the kids they will be going to a new school soon etc -- guy is clown

And my point was Jones shouldn't get his buyout money if this is the way he wants to leave UT.

the more I think about that statement, I cannot believe that Jones would have said that. I don't think Jones is that vindictive.

Jones is hardly the choirboy he's been portrayed to be. A lot of truth is going to start to come out, although we've seen plenty of glimpses of his inferiority complex, his paranoia and his anger management issues already.

I’d be very surprised if Butch lands anywhere. He has become a joke with all of his cliches.

There should be a clause in the contract that negates the buyout if the former coach participates in activity detrimental to the University

So this Florida kid may be interested in playing at SE North Dakota State?

Not one comment that the new coach doesn't have to honor old commitments. He could very well need to find a new school quick or not get a scholarship.
