You people realize the A's never won the title with the "moneyball" idea right? There is your answer as to whether why we shouldn't be going to the clearance isle for coaches.

Not looking for nattys right now. Just want SECe titles when we are clearly the best team in the East. Even if we aren't clearly the best, we clearly beat the other two top contenders in the East.

Boston did. Ended the curse of the Bambino.

I know all about the 04 Sox. The horses on that team won the title, lets be real. The bean town likes to spin it as a moneyball knockoff, but many of those players were not underpaid when we are talking salaries of 2004. Please don't point me to Kevin Youkilis because he is from the movie.

The fact that we are trying to justify these underwhelming names being thrown around as possible additions to the staff as the "moneyball" method is a problem. Show me where it has worked elsewhere in college football. This is not the MLB. You have to pay to play.

With all the *****in' and moanin' about CBJ's past and impending hires, could it be that he's trying to squeeze the most bang for the buck?

Hamilton didn't just botch hiring coaches, thereby driving UT programs into the ditch, he made unwise decisions on investments, expenditures, and accumulation of new debt. The once flush Department of Men's Athletics gave money to University academics. Post-Hamilton, the combined Athletics Department couldn't do that. Indeed, there were times when the AD needed support from the University's general revenues.

So, is CBJ trying to do the best that can be done with a constrained budget?

Anyone have insider insight into the AD budget?

People continue to point to Shoop and Barnes as if they are somehow the rule and not the exception. The fact of the matter still remains that on average the UT football coaching staff is about the 9th highest salary total in the SEC. Football is the money maker for the other programs and if UT continues to pay its coaches on average, middle of the pack SEC salaries we cannot expect to get more than middle of pack results. Butch Jones is what he is
