People hate facts but here we go anyway.

1...alaBubba has had the number 1 recruiting class for at least 5 years in a row.

2...Our Vols have had only 2 top 5 recruiting classes these last 2 years.

3...alaBummer has top ranked depth from their seniors down to their true freshmen and many redshirts.

4...Our Vols haven't any real depth with experience just yet and we haven't been able to redshirt anyone just yet.

5...AlaBubba is ranked 8th in the nation right now.

6...We all believe we should have won more games and be highly ranked too but it didn't happen...YET!

7...Our Vols were underdogs by 15.5 points today so all the experts expected us to get a serious butt kicking.

8...We didn't come even close to taking a butt kicking and we were in the lead in the 4th quarter.

9...The O line and the D line of alaBummer are much better and more experienced than our lines are.

10...Our patchwork O and D lines that have had too many injuries DID just fight toe to toe against what many experts say are some of the very best O and D lines in the country.

11...alaBubba had a really good gameplan against us today.

12...Our coaches had just as good a gameplan against alaBummer and we scared the crap out of their team, coaches and fans and were within 2 of 3 Fieldgoals of getting a huge WIN today.

THINK people, we're only about 10 good plays away from being undefeated and ranked in the top 6 in the nation.

That's rock solid proof that CBJ and his staff definately have us moving in the right direction and it's been done at least a year or 2 ahead of a reasonable schedule that many thought it would take to totally rebild our roster and to even compete against teams like Oklahoma, floriDUHHH, Georgia and alaBubba.

We're not only competing at a very high level, we damn near beat all those really good teams that have lots more depth and experience than we have yet.

The serious FEAR of having to play our Tennessee Vols is already coming back and much faster than anyone thought.

I'm not even close to being happy with very close losses but I have to be realistic because I see definate, serious improvement in our program and our hard fighting team on the field.

I'm forced to agree that CBJ and his staff have us back on the right road that leads us back to the top of the National Mountain.

We'll have some more tough games the rest of this season but I honestly believe we'll Win out the rest of this season.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Good post except for the childish Bama cliches. Get over the nicknames guys, it's stupid.

So your measure of a successful season is striking fear in the opponent? If we go 3-9 but strike fear in the rest of our opponents that's OK with you?

If you think we are going to lose out, you are FOS. Catch a clue Gomer, the Vols played a hell of a game with half as many players as Bama. Get over yourself. Put down the Jack and sleep it off.

The Vols just stood toe to toe with the team that has dominated college football for the last six years. It was grown man football, the way Bama/UT games should be. No spread, no HUNH, no trickery, just power football.

Anyone who thinks this team hasn't improved by leaps and bound is wrong. Tennessee is relevant again. We're going to finish the season strong. This was a gut wrenching loss, but I guarantee you Alabama is glad they don't have to face the Vols until next year, and the Tide players have respect for the Vols. Any recruit that saw that game was impressed with the way the Vols played. We are on the cusp of being the dominant team in the SEC east.

Is that how you measure success? Played a helluva game. Who said they're going to lose out? What record will you be satisfied with?

Butch has the team moving in the right direction. Next year is the year, really.

So, last year you were saying as long as Butch has them moving in the right direction next year I'll be OK with that? So next year what does he have to do?

Yes. We should win out and get to 8-4, and a ninth win in a bowl, that's progress no matter how you look at the games that could've went either way.

Its simple. Any average coach would be 7-0 with this team. We've been the better team each time we've played. Period.

Simple minded post. Why people come on here and just try to get a rise out of people. And, yes, that's what you're doing because if you weren't and were really wanting a logical discussion you wouldn't post such nonsense. It's pathetic really. Step your trolling up to where it's at least entertaining.

And, I don't think you "know" what an average coach delivers because, for one, it certainly isn't the recruiting classes that CBJ has delivered.

Improvement only matters in the win/loss column. He's had colossal coaching mistakes in each of his three seasons. Completely average XO coach. If you really think he's going to all of a sudden start dominating, you're absolutely delusional.

Peyton Manning will never coach a down at UT in any capacity. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional

Although Peyton stated clearly that he had no interest in being an offensive coordinator, he did say that he would consider being a quarterback coach at Tennessee. Now, if you want to try to prove me wrong on this point, you're welcome to it, but he did make that statement recently.

He has to get the most he can out of what he has to work with, recruit well, be a great leader for young men, give us a chance to win.

What coach is available that you'd rather have?

I have to agree somewhat with volballs1. Yes, Butch has significantly improved the talent level from the Dooley era. Yes, we've shown we can compete with the elite programs in the country. But I keep seeing coaching decisions that ultimately cost us ballgames. In the four games we've lost this year, we've gotten the ball back with anywhere from 1:20 to almost 2:00 remaining on the clock, and in everyone of those games, Butch has played the conservative card to get us to halftime. If it wasn't for the long run Herd broke on the 3rd down play tonight, Medley wouldn't have even had a chance to miss a field goal. How quickly did we score on the drive in the 4th quarter? Less than a minute??? Why can't we do that at the end of the half?

Your statement doesn't really mean anything. Give us a chance to win isn't good enough. He has to win. There are several coaches out there I think would be an upgrade. The problem is Hart. Don't have a lot of confidence in him. So what records are acceptable for you this year and next?

Very encouraged overall, still some issues with game management and some staff, but certainly approve of overall job he is doing. You can argue he should have won a couple games this year that he didn't, you'd be right. However, you can't argue that the program is not continuing to get better. This game was huge measuring stick for me, I think the plan was solid (except not rolling out Dobbs on last drive) and evidence that talent is improving dramatically. I hate being "close", but they are " close ". Totally confident the wins are coming. Win the last 5 and a bowl and it's a good season IMO.

All here are entitled to their opinion, but these negavols really don't have a clue. Clearly you must see the improvement made this season and over the past 2 seasons plus. You want to compare CBJ with Harbaugh @ Michigan or McElwain @ Florida, then I'm saying you're unfair. Both Harbaugh and McElwain had pretty talented rosters when they arrived. As has been said numerous times here, CBJ inherited a "dumpster fire". He's pretty much flipped the roster and bringing in the talent. Sure he's made a few not so good calls this season, but looking at the last 2 games, I believe he has learned from his mistakes. After the Arkansas lose I'll admit I was wondering if he was going to get the job done. A coach in my mind that had lost the team after that game (according to some on here) that can motivate this team to play as well as they have with all the injuries they have had and the heartbreaking losses, is doing a helluva job. So yes CBJ will get the job done. As a matter of fact, I pretty much think he's got TN back to being relevant. Team 120 will prove this IMO. TN will have depth and experience, hopefully not as many injuries. And yes all teams suffer injuries, that is football. But when a young team such as TN, with very little depth to begin with, can remain very competitive with top teams in the country, then I'll say he's getting the job done. I do not like moral victories either, but today was a "moral victory". Go VOLS!

To all you guys hating on Butch. STFU, go be a fan of someone else. please. YOU suck. I was in Tuscaloosa. It has been a long time since I have seen a UT team EARN this much respect from an opposing fan base. Our kids EARNED a lot of respect tonight. If you can't deal with the loss, then I suggest you go somewhere else.
