Butch and Dobbs

You have to be related to Peterman. That's the only way I can reasonably believe why you're so in love with him.

Yes, Peterman is the permanent number two, unless Dobbs gets hurt. Heck, Peterman may not be number two going into next years season.

Again, barring injury, his SEC career is done. He can't cut it at this level, which explains his lack of playing time.

Forget his four star rating, and forget his minimal playing time. Playing time is earned and Peterman hasn't earned it.

Once again, you evaded the questions, attack me, then create distractions - just as every one of you guys did every time your nonsense was confronted with the facts.
Honesty matters.

CBJ has coached successful quarterbacks in a spread offense at his previous HC jobs. He understands the fans' reactions to a "better than average" game but needs to control the fans' expectations vs. the QB's noise in his head of the "quick fame".

I'm sure CBJ has seen this "process" before and knows full well how to handle the "next great QB".

Butch is just pizzed... Dobbs won't explain the big bang theory to him.

Dobbs is the better QB. If Peterman was #2 then he would be the starter now. Facts matter.

You are now claiming Peterman was not the backup (#2). That's patently false.
Truth matters. Try being honest. Of course, you can't. The truth is not with you. You swallowed the lie and cannot defend it. That's the real problem.

Hmmm... so Dobbs and Peterman weren't officially named co-#2 QB's, even though Dobbs was being tracked for a redshirt? They were. That should tell you all you need to know about who the coaches truly believed the #2 QB to be.

Why name the #3 QB, who's on track to redshirt, as the co-#2? That downt make any since.

Butch is attempting to make excuses for not starting Dobbs at the first of the year. Everybody knows Butch messed up big time for wasting Dobbs this year. If he had started we would be contending for the SEC East , more than likely.

Epic troll job.

Nope, Peterman won the #2 position in the preseason QB competition. It wasn't even close. Anyone and everyone who payed attention this past summer saw what happened. Peterman was outstanding and Dobbs was struggling terribly. That's why Dobbs became #3 and a possible RS if convenient to coaches - not due to some conspiracy to save the better QB. Sorry pal, but that's precisely what happened. Reality matters.

Butch praised him plenty immediately after the game IMO. I doubt anyone here wants our coach to go bi-polar like many fans do over his play.

Sounds like a Heisman contender when he does well and we win and should have his scholly revoked if he makes a bad play or two that costs us a game. We don't need a coach that thinks that way. Relax.

It's funny how people respond when coaches act like coaches instead of manic depressive cheerleaders.

Are you suggesting I wasn't paying attention?

In what reality was Dobbs officially named the #3 QB? It certainly wasn't this one.

Yes, you obviously were not paying attention. Anyone and everyone who did pay attention saw Peterman perform excellent and Dobbs was consistently inaccurate and struggling. This is when Peterman became #2.

Do you seriously contend that Peterman did not win the #2 position by outperforming Dobbs in the preseason QB competition?
In what reality did Dobbs beat Peterman in that competition?

Sorry the truth is so unacceptable in your alternate reality, but that's exactly what happened in objective reality.

In what reality did Dobbs win that competition and maintain his #2 spot?

Sorry the truth is so bothersome to so many people, but that's exactly what happened in reality.
Why should anybody care about this in mid November?

Peterman was the #2 until it became apparent that the #2 guy was going to have to play. To me that's pretty telling also.

I think Butch is hoping that he throws the future opponents off the trail so they will be uncertain who the QB is so they don't totally gameplan for Dobbs!

1) Because the author of the thread wants to know why Butch is 'limited' in his praise of Dobbs. I'm telling it factually and as it really happened. This explains Butch's reticence perfectly.

2) Because the facts matter. BS doesn't - even if it's popular.

Peterman is basically the same style QB so I don't see what the advantage would be in that.

I bet you wish the games were played in the summer, then Peterman may have had a chance to be the real #2 - in your mind anyway.

Why do you avoid everyone's questions? I simply asked you when was Peterman officially named the #2QB and Dobbs the #3? It didn't happen. On the official depth chart they were named co-#2's... anyone paying attention would know this.

Though there is something you can hang your hat on, Peterman is the real #2 QB now.

Whose question did I avoid? Like the others, you evaded my questions and answered nothing.

Your question is silly. Coaches made it clear that Peterman would backup Worley and played him that way all the way up to and including Alabama.

Now answer my questions and stop evading.

Dude, your stupid question doesn't matter anymore.

How about you answer this: If Peterman is the true number two to Worley, why isn't he playing?

Threads like this have to be among the saddest ever started on Volnation....we start winning, and the complainers, in their need to find something to whine about, starting picking apart whether or not Coach Jones pumps enough sunshine up Dobbs' exhaust port. I mean, come on! Really. This is not a big deal.

As stated before (though these comments were mostly ignored), Coach Jones knows exactly what to say to the media, public, and his players at the right time. When we were losing and Worley and the line getting ripped by us all, he stood by them, praised their positives, and encouraged them. They needed that, and we did, too. Now that Dobbs is winning, Butch is attempting to temper our expectations, while still letting Josh know that he believes in his VERY high ceiling. He expects nothing but the best for his QB of the present and future, and is helping his young QB to stay grounded. This harmless, constructive criticism likely fuels Josh's already outstanding focus.

There is NOTHING here to freak out about. This is Leadership 101.
