A little encouragement AND insight for those who question and/or are not satisfied with signing a 3 star RB...let's not lose sight that AF was just that, not only did he finish as Tennessee's 2nd All-Time leading rusher (2,
964 just 114 shy of Travis "Cheese" Henry), the Houston Texans (and their fans) are pleased as punch to have him---AF went from undrafted Free Agent to NFL Pro-Bowler (2010 in just his second season) and voted 3rd Best RB of 2011 (behind #2 Chris Johnson and top rated Adrian Peterson).
NOTE: AF ran a 4.69 in pre-draft workouts.

Now, is this to say Imani Cross---or any other non-4 or non-5 star RB will achieve similar (Collegiate or Pro) success? Of course not. However, who is to say they will not?
Never know how that individual will develop as a player. Something to keep in mind before passing judgment on a 3* OR, for that matter, any recruit, instead trust in and support our coaches and team.

True but 4 and 5 star players likely have a chance contributing than a three star player. Not to mention the fact there are only 21 5*s, ~250+ 4*s and everyone else in the nation is 3* or lower. Of course there are going to be some exceptions.

All I remember is him fumbling inside the 10 yard line against Bama, PennSt, Bama, ........................

Sorry if I'm a glass half full person, but I believe he cost Tennessee at least three games....

understandable since the article was written on 8/5/2011

should we really start just recruiting 2-3* rb's? How many of them actually make it as opposed to the higher rated guys?

A few. But usually not because they never get the spotlight to showcase talent.

No, the link I provided is from the original 2004 article. Maybe you are referring to this article on 2011 recruit Chris Johnson...

Really?? This is how you interpret my post?

the date I was talking about is the one on the article in the OP that had CJ as #2 (the ranking you also referenced). Obviously it was written before the season

Mark Ingram 3 star and the 58th best RB in his class.:)

In the end stars have no real value, because if the coaching staff can not develop them it does not matter.
