I'm trying to make the point that there are consequences to action and inaction.

I'm not trying to suggest that Iraq should have been done. Rather, I'm pointing out that there would be consequences to inaction. That is all.

Why do Republicans, who are so in favor of getting the government out of their lives, fight so vigorously for government control over a woman's reproductive decisions?

While I don't agree entirely with that, I don't believe anyone other than mother and father should make that decision. It's a terrible situation for anyone to face, and a decision that the government should stay out of.

If you look at the economic history, some of this was policy some of it was an overheated economy that temporarily pushed revenues above spending.

A couple things happened to the surpluses:

1. the growth that created them was not sustainable.

2. congress and the pres upped spending.

In short, they were unfortunately temporary and would have vanished regardless of the POTUS and Congress. Bush accelerated their demise by ratcheting up spending in Afghanistan and Iraq.
