This one is pretty common.

Beat me to it.

Comparing the civil war to the founding of the country?

Is their a history book near by??

More importantly, comparing the confederacy to US armed services in Iraq and Iran?

Is there some high-proof alcohol nearby?

It's actually a very appropriate comparison...there are many parallels. After all, the revolutionaries were secessionists.

Wait, Perry supposedly feigning secessionism is indicative of parallels between the civil war and american revolution? I don't think you've mastered the "fyp" trick, yet.

No, but you've got a black president, a far right distrust of him, and a Texan willing to rile them up with alluding to secessionist Southern pride.

Pretty easy to see where he's going with this.

What does the president being black have to do with it?

You think he really wants to secede from the country in which he's trying to win the presidency? Is secession his backup plan?

I was nearly hit by a car yesterday while riding my bike, the woman yelled some profanity at me, and there was a Rick Santorum 2012 sticker on the bumper. Classy.

Can't do that. But he can say to the far right that he "gets it." Wink, wink, nudge nudge. Secret handshake, nod of the head, all that jazz.

I don't know what LG is getting at either. It seems it may be so absurd he's not willing to say it.

That Southern racists would jump at the chance to vote for a right wing nut who sees nothing wrong with suggesting that his Southern state secede from the union when it has elected a black liberal POTUS, or that we might try the fed chief for treason?

You're right. So absurd.

So Perry would suggest seceding over a black POTUS? That would be his reasoning? He's got 30% minorities, as well as a large group of whites who aren't racist. It sounds pretty absurd to me.

LG, I don't know where you've lived, but in my experience there isn't anymore racism in the south than there is out here in the west. Maybe the whole country will secede.

You fool. That's not who he's pandering to for the GOP nomination.

According to George Bush's organization, if Perry wins the nomination he will overnight become quite moderate in his views. According to the establishment wing of the party, Perry is absolute scum, the ultimate bait and switch operator, the say anything guy.

Word is that Perry is absolutely loathed by the establishment and you will see quite a bit of support going to Romney once this thing really gets underway.

Romney is going to win the nomination.
