The foul wasn't very hard. And they are rival teams. Not to mention, fouls are part of the game while throwing down like you're in a street fight is not.
Also, when did Artest taunt the crowd? He laid down on the scorers table like a pompous jerk and I'm far from on Artest and Stephen Jackson's side so don't think I am, but Artest didn't do anything other than lay down after Ben Wallace lost his mind and chased Artest down the court. Then a fan proceeded to hit Artest directly in the face with a soda and Artest went off in return after having already avoided one altercation. I won't make excuses for Artest's behavior running into the crowd but Ben Wallace absolutely set it off. The crowd was going nuts because he tried fighting Artest and it's what set the crowd off in the first place. No different than inciting a riot really. Although that's just another day in Detroit.
Watch the video again and if you think it's not Wallace's fault, you're even more bias than I am. You made multiple excuses for his behavior trying to defend Wallace while placing blame on Artest. So what if it was a foul with the game almost over and in hand. So what if his brother just died. People lose family members everyday in this world and they don't go starting fights. Especially in front of kids, over a game. Your excuse that the game was in hand and almost over also holds no baring seeing as the Pistons still had their starters on the floor. Why not blame the Pistons for having their starters out on the floor to be "fouled hard" when the game was already over since you seem to think it makes a difference what point of the game it was.
It's cool though, defend Ben Wallace throwing down in front of 30,000 people as well as the fan who threw something at Artest because he apparently taunted the crowd. I don't know what you watched but we watched something completely different it seems. Stephen Jackson was taunting the Pistons players but other than that...

Go to the 1:20 mark and watch the replay of the foul. If you as a "basketball guru" think that's a hard foul...
