I doubt Hamilton is considering him, but if he's smart than he should. The guy is a defensive genius and obviously should have been a HC already. Another upside is that i dont believe a large amount of money would be needed to secure him. Here are Virginia Tech's number going all the way back to 1999.

Statistics
Foster's defenses consistently rank among the top in the nation. Below are Virginia Tech's defensive statistics since 1999.

I often wondered why he wasn't a HC somewhere. I guess he's content where he is.

this is what i posted on fb the night news broke of kiffin being gone, but it doesn't seem like he's leaving or drawing any interest at all

I've heard he doesn't want to be a HC. If he did though, UT would be really close to home for him. He is from Somerset, Ky which is about an hour and half from Ktown

I believe if we gave him the right offer he would come. I read on wiki that he recieved interest from both WVU and Clemson, but he was never offered.

I pulled for this guy last year. He would be a solid hire because he wouldn't cost to much and we could drop money to get a good staff around him. He coaches SEC level defense and is an ace recruiter and would give UT a pipeline into the talent rich Hampton Roads( grew up there, its an under looked resource) area. In my opinion he's the main reason why VA Tech is good as a football program because they sure aren't an offensive juggernaut by any means

As crazy as it sounds, I would jump at Bud Foster over a bunch of program retreads like Cutcliffe. Based on what I know about him as a VT coach, he is the kind of guy that players and the fans would go to war for. The problem is he is a loyal guy and I don't see him leaving VT. I also don't see him being on Hamilton's radar. Too bad especially if Hammy panics and hires Cutcliffe.

I have said the same thing. i cant see why hes not a candidate. i think everyone thinks hes happy where he is, but who knows without asking.

I know UGA had interest in him as their DC as well. Personally I think Foster would be a great hire. If you want a great coach for a much lower price than most, then this your guy Hamilton!

I think he has one of those unwritten things that he knows when Beamer hangs it up he will be the new hokies HC.

That being said he would make a great coach !!!:good!:

These last 3 years have really wore me out being a VOL FAN.........God i hope Hammy gets this one right cause i dont know how much more i can take :banghead2:

STOOPS PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wouldn't see beamer lasting much longer, which would be the only reason i'd see foster staying. he'd have a lifetime position there if he got grandfathered in, more than likely. it's a shame he isn't getting more of a look, from what we know of.

Foster wants to be a head coach so bad it's killing him. Kinda like Cutcliff was. He has interviewed for several jobs but never offered. It's a bit of a mystery to everyone in Blacksburg. He seems like a good guy but my concern would be recruiting. Tech only focuses on VA & NC with a bit into MD & DC. They are very regional. I don't know if he has the ability to recruit nationally like he would have to at UT.

that's why you hire people on your staff that can pull recruits from different areas, too. it really baffles me why he hasn't been brought up.
