Yo Witchy! Hopefully you're the same WD I got to know at GOVOLXtra before I dumped it 1.5 years back.

Anyway, a few comments.
Disclaimer: I don't know the specifics to the Bud Foster matter so my comments are opinion only.

Comments: From experience I can tell you that frustration and vendetta can motivate an action like Bud's. You give your years, best efforts, and heart to a program or company. Then along comes either time or some new hire(s) and you start getting treated as if you are some 18 year old nobody and worse. This persists despite your record, on-going efforts, and even success at what you do. The disrespect manifests itself openly in meetings and even the hallways. At some point you say enough is enough and bid your time. Then at the moment it's most advantageous to you, you strike back the only way you can, legally I wish to stress. I'm not in favor of people who go postal with murderous intent.

Like a marriage, you can love the other but if the love isn't returned and is consistently replaced with spite and venom, it actually is possible to kill the love. In absence of love, grief and anger take dominance. What grief and anger produce varies with the individual. Trust the word of one who knows.

Gus Manning is in part what changed with UT athletics being non friendly. He had a huge hand in the donations for seating being altered. Also stepped up restrictions for ushers to not let fans do much so you are probably right. He probably did tell you t sit down. Now I will say Gus Manning and Haywood Harris and several ole timers would eat breakfast at Rankins Restaurant on Central St in Knoxville every Saturday morning. There would be about 15 of them wearing their various championship rings. Some were baseball historians and what naught. A wealth of Tennessee little known facts shared if you just asked them.

Holy **** THAT'S Gus Manning??

oh boy.....I mean, I could be wrong, it might not have been him--wouldn't (or shouldn't) he be sitting in club level??

Bob Kesling is the only Vols historian I need. He gives me the historical play-by-play every week, at least five minutes after it happens.

Unless the other team has a huge play. I hate listening to him. It will be like 3rd and 15 for the other team. We need to get a stop since it's like 4th qt with 2min to go. Here is how Bob calls it...

"Murray drops back, looking, looking....fires one over the middle(in a low calm tone as if the ball was sailing out of bounds).....CAUGHTTTTTTTT FORRRRR A GEORGIA FIIRRRSSTTT DOWN WOW. That was a sensational play for Georgia."

But if we would have knocked it down he would have just said "the pass is batted down"

Just my reason on why I dislike listening to him. But he doesn't compare to Vern and Gary Danielson.

That, and he does not tell what formation they are in and what the score is very often. Along with not knowing names or what year they are. Basically he is not a good play by play guy lol.:)

My favorite Bud Ford story involved The Cattleman/Small Mike. Somehow, Cattleman was able to get a press pass or something and Ford ended up throwing him out. I forgot all of the details, but the situation ended up making it in the Knoxville News Sentinel the next day. It was either near the beginning of the 2007 season or 2006.

what was the film a year or two ago that was made by Bud's dept?...it was supposed to be about the team and half of it was about him showing just how important he was...it seemed that feeding his ego was a large part of the film that his dept produced

Yeah, gets confused with employment at will states.

my apologies, I had been up without much sleep. You are right, TN is an employment at will state (and also a right to work state?)...the rest of the evaluation is the same and still very grey. Without more details, any discussion is purely academic.

For a general overview, check this link:

So we are clear regarding your post.....neither right to work or employment at will apply here because Bud wasn't joining a labor union and employment at will doesn't apply because he had a signed contract. From what I have read and heard Hart has stepped in it. The sad thing is Hart has had several opportunities to reconsider but has such a huge ego he won't change his mind. Bottom line Bud will win this one. I am betting that Ut will honor the agreement with Bud and he will end up either getting the 40k paid out or he will return to ut under a contract until the work agreement is fulfilled. Either way bud wins and hart loses. I hope hart makes better decisions with coaches than he did with bud. Not very smart on his part.

I swear I've been told to sit down by the guy on the right...

Manning has been a staple since the 50's I believe and now is a legend at UT. I imagine he sits in the skyboxes, you know the windows up in the sky. Ford has been at UT since the 70's correct? 2012 = Loyalty free zone.

What exactly are you implying by this?
