Is it possible to upload a video from a smartphone? I took a video of Turner’s shot from center court.

Thanks for your post game takeaways. I always enjoy reading them.

Apologies for getting off subject but I didn’t think this deserved it’s own thread.

What kind of Cracker Jack invitational tournament doesn’t get legit network coverage? I thought I got every sports channel known yet still didn’t have CBSSN for last night’s game.

The app that carried tonight’s game was awful. The commentators sounded like I was watching a JV high school game. There was a mic somewhere around the rim that was turned up so loud it took over the broadcast.

How do these guys make money with that kind of coverage and te empty stands? I don’t get it.
I agree. If they invite us again tell um to pound sand.

Curious how much we knew about this tourney or when we committed...not to sound “big time”, but we are looking like a Top 15 program right now given the last 2 years and future trajectory, and our attendance is Top 5 nationally...we should be playing in the big tournaments that get the big tome coverage, not this crap.

I don't ever remember being in one that didn't at least televise all the games. And looked like a high school arena.

Some of these early tournaments are presented by reputable “known” companies........this one was by Global Sports........seriously has anyone heard of this company before now?

Not like its continental tire, or Maui Jim, Or even Rocket Mortgage, ect.

Stop complaining about the tournament, at least we had the opportunity to play in one and with quality opponents...i found it refreshing that it was broadcast on youtube app with no commentators

It’s not so much the tournament as it is the availability of it. It would be nice to get at least some PR mileage out of it.

Maybe next year we can be in an invitational that is streamed via Reddit.

Agree

I imagine it’s easier to land teams once you just get one.......Tennessee, Purdue, VCU, or FSU to commit........I would assume FSU and maybe some type of “Florida” connection....but who knows.

The program should look at who is putting on the tournament (that will tell you a lot) not just who may be a sponsor.

Global Sports has been a sponsor of more major tournaments over the past few years.....but I do not think they have as “host”.

Also look at the past “emerald” teams......until now the biggest name team to win the thing has been TCU......by far.

Iirc a lot of these tourneys have 4 year rule, meaning you can’t attend the same one but 1/4 years...if I was Tennessee I would be looking Maui, Atlantis, NIT and another one like that...quality field with lots of exposure.

Exactly

This tournament: Tennessee came away with a quality win and a loss and ZERO exposure.

It’s been a very minor tourney for years......they tried to make it bigger and more relevant by simply adding better teams.......and doing nothing about the actual tournament itself (low level tournament with higher level teams).

Past tournaments have included Cincy, Ole Miss, Baylor, Maryland, Virginia, Memphis, Iowa, Iowa State. Florida is playing in it next year with Illinois, Iowa State, and Oregon. Could be worse.

Can we please foul the next time we’re up 3 with less than 15 to go? Sheesh. Thank goodness for Turner but we shouldn’t have even needed it.

We’ve played in Maui, Atlantis, and NIT the previous 3 years.

I did fail to mention Virginia. They are certainly a big name team......but they did lose 11 games that year.

I wouldn’t call Mississippi or 2016 Memphis “big time”

Also for a tournament’s purpose........I don’t think Tennessee would have gotten into a worse one.

Not on regular tv at all

Heck the second game wasn’t even on any programming.......just streaming on regular YouTube......come on.

I didn’t say big time. Just that there have been notable names. There are some tournaments with one or two notable names.

We are playing in the Charleston Classic next year, which I don’t recall us playing in. But as long as Barnes keeps scheduling like he does, it doesn’t really matter. We will keep playing quality opponents. A big tournament doesn’t even play on Saturday during football.

Yea “I” had said big “name” programs in my previous post.

I would try to stay away from this one and others like it from now on....if possible.

If the “host” of the tournament is “World Sports” you probably need to......move along.

I will say it's a must that we stop with the turnovers. Way too many are just bad/lazy passes and ball handling.

Also, not even close to that important but....why don't we have an orange version of our home uniforms? I understood why we didn't have one last year, but it's been an entire year and now it just looks really weird to have home and away uniforms that don't remotely match.

The Charleston Classic next season is on ESPN and Tennessee last played in Maui in 2016.

I think Tennessee played in this tournament to maybe get a foothold into the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area to look at top high school prospects for future reference....... JMO.

I agree that the venue and availability to watch games were very subpar. Plus what you could watch was basically at a high school media class level at best. BUT we did see 2 of the better defensive teams year in and year out. Both put serious pressure on ball and in passing lanes for entire game. I wouldn’t want to play in it again but for this years team it had a lot of teaching moments that can only help come tourney time
