BTO’s LSU postgame report

Yes which limited his minutes Early in the second half

We better hope doesn't spread this through the team.
For me Wednesday is the biggest game of the year
I hope it doesn’t either
The flu is going around now.
I would say his legs were weak when he slid that one possession.
Probably one reason he also had 4 fouls tonight.

No you aren't, you're a pathetic whiner who obviously gets off by pissing and moaning about how bad we are and how bad we're going to get beat.

You want me to "tell it like it is"...ok....you're someone I hope I never meet in real life because I'm pretty sure I'd hate your complaining chicken little ass.

Hey kettle, here's pot. Here are some of your comments from today. You sure sound like a " real" fan who obviously "gets off by pissing and moaning " about our players.

Already getting exposed. As you said our defense sucks and against bigger teams we can't rebound. Embarrassing we can't even force there hottest player to there left driving to the basket. Basic fundamentals.
And where is the help defense when guard for LSU drives to the bucket for lay in 3 times in last 5 minutes and overtime. Kyle was on backside block, should have rotated to stop ball, and instead spectated all 3 times while LSU guard laced it in. Pathetic.

Alexander had a huge block at the end of regulation. He got Pinned a few other times and couldn't get around his guy

Am I crazy to say that Grant shoulders the blame for this loss due to his play in regulation?
Grant is beginning to play teams with NBA physicality. Ky and LSU dwarf him in size and athleticism and Grant cant really step out on the perimeter and make those guys guard him in the open floor. Fact is that we are an overall small team. Both of LSU guards were bigger than any of our three guards and they was very little difference in the quickness. Some people forget that Smart was a lot higher rated player coming out of HS than Waters.

This made me more angry than anything! Alexander watched all 3 times Smart blew past Bone and Turner for a layup. It almost looked like he was clearing out the lane for Smart. Probably would have Been called for an offensive foul had he been playing for LSU

Smart was the best player on the court yesterday. The talent Wade is gathering at LSU is scary good.

One thought I keep having about LSU - why is every game they play so close, no matter who they play? It almost seems as though they are just having one of those magical seasons where everything goes their way at the wire.

You are right most of their games are close But they lost to Arkansas and Florida at the wire.

Agree. On one play at the end of reg he made the play he should have made every time. I never saw him get pinned. I saw lazy and poor help defense.

Respectfully, I would disagree. Nobody on our team is tougher in crunch time. The guy is physically and mentally tough as nails. Look what he did at end of reg and it. Also, he covered Reid most of game. Reid only had one point. Williams can’t do it all, all the time. He needs help. Alexander and Pons seem to be getting worse, not better.

1. That one hurts...not in a sense of are we gonna make the tourney or are we on the bubble, but that was a winnable game on the road that we led for the majority of and if we don’t go brain dead and make uncharacteristic plays we likely win, that’s what makes it hurt so bad. Again in the grand scheme of things a road loss to what’s likely to now be a Top 10 team isn’t going to hurt your resume, but it would’ve been nice to have.

2. If you’d have told me we would outrebound them by 6 and break even of the offensive boards I would’ve nearly guaranteed a win, add in we shoot a better percentage from the field and 3 and I would’ve said it was a certainty, yet we lost, how? Biggest thing that jumps out is the 14 turnovers to their 7, not sure how many points off those 14to’s they got but that obviously hurt. The other is that they attempted 31ft’s to our 16, that shouldn’t happen. Smart killed us off the dribble all game, the zone was effective but Barnes appeared hesistant to use it I’m guessing because of fear of being ate alive on the glass, point blank our guards have gotta be better at staying in front of their man.

3. Individually, great to see Schofield have a nice game and see his shots falling, I thought GW competed and played a great defensive game, he didn’t get many calls which has seemingly become a bit of a theme lately for our whole team, it doesn’t seem like we’ve gotten a very favorable whistle in awhile.

4. GW & Schofield played well, Turner, Bowden and Alexander struggled yet again and Bone had the flu and wasn’t himself although he played pretty well considering...not sure if some guys are just off but the ball isn’t moving and we aren’t playing like we were a few weeks ago. For a team that’s been averaging about 22apg and towards the top in the country in that statistic our last 3 games have produced 11ast, 13ast and today a season worst 10ast. Idk of the Kentucky beating messed up some of our guys in the head or what, but right now they don’t look like the same squad.

5. The good news...there is time and opportunities upcoming to right the ship. Heading into the final 7 games I stated 4-3 is what I predicted and wouldn’t be necessarily bad, we are 1-2 so that would mean we go 3-1 to finish the year, that’s still attainable. We have a road game against a scrappy Ole Miss team that has surprised folks this year, they’ve come back down to earth a little bit of late but this is a game our Vols should win. If you can find a way to finish 3-1 and be at 27-4 (15-3) at seasons end we are likely in the conversation of a 1 or 2 seed heading into the SECT.

GBO!!!
The disparity in free throws in this game and UK ought to have Barnes bitching about officiating. I’ve never seen a team more roughed up in two games than those, only to be called for ticky tack on the other end.

Whenever Alexander left his man to help against a driving guard if he didn’t get the block then the LSU big got an offensive put back. It was sort of damned if you do, damned if you don’t. My question is are Bone and Turner so slow that they can’t stay in front of their man? There wasn’t even a pick for most of those drives. I would have rather made them beat us taking 3 pointers myself

TURNER was a huge Liability vs lsu. (Lost The Game!) Missed BOTH Ft's on the technical; and BONEHEADED the last play of the game. The head Coach has to be more involved in the game; and If he had been, Grant would have been at the Foul line instead of LT. The head Coach has to be in tune in every game and make adjustments as called for. CHARTS are for dummies. Lt couldn't hit the ocean yesterday; and shouldn't have been the designated FT shooter; regardless of percentages. STUPID AZZ LOSS! Not gonna make the Sweet 16.

Can you provide stats & facts that say different? Now you can't. It's a lazy narrative people use because they've heard it before and it makes them sound smart. You know why Tennessee isn't playing as well? It's because they are playing better competition, not because they peaked in early January.

You want stats for the proposition that a team can be at their best at a point in the season and then regress from that top level of play?

WTF is wrong with you? That happens all the damn time.

And what about the lackluster performances in games we've won? Bama, Vandy, etc.

What you are saying is abject nonsense.

I think they put Turner up there because Grant had missed one of the earlier tech free throws.

One thing missed in all the talk is Wade made a big mistake not having that last free throw missed on purpose.

Should have missed it

I thought this as well, but then again with Tennessee having just talked about immediate TO it wouldn’t have changed anything, still would’ve gotta ball with pretty much same time remaining.
