BTO’s Florida Postgame Report

Vescovi averages 1.7 turnovers which is really good. He plays 30 something minutes a game and has the ball in his hands A LOT. I agree with chandler though. I think he still has a little of his high school/AAU tendencies in him where he didn't have to fight every possession to protect the ball and could basically do what ever he wanted. He's getting better at not driving too deep and making turnovers in the lane. Next step is he has to be extra careful with his passes to the wing. Last night he had 3 super lazy turnovers that I feel sure won't happen again. Passing lanes close much faster at this level. He will adjust just like he has in other areas through out the season.
And he’s got to finish at the rim to take his next step in development

The officiala last night were garbage. Pat Adams has always been garbage. He admonished both head coaches last night for barking at him when he should have just owned up to the fact that his crew was terrible. If you have both coaches chewing you out on the border of getting T'd up, then you were awful. At least they were evenly terrible.

Referee ejects UW-Green Bay radio announcer for gestures

I assume some of you saw this, but even if you give him the benefit of the doubt, this is the sole reason why he should not be doing anymore games. Shows his ego is bigger than the arena.

At one point Adams went over, picked up his headset and was 10-15 seconds into the review. He abruptly put the headset down, went over to the huddle and proceeded to tell Barnes something because I guess he heard Barnes chirping. Then he went back to the headset. He’s quite the authoritarian.

I think you’re what you’re talking about was a call toward the end of the game and the call was Florida Ball. Florida’s coach asked for a review( he was out of time outs). The DA ref reviewed a call at the behest of the coach whose team was awarded the ball which in essence gave Florida a chance to coach the inbounds play.

Exactly. Barnes was furious. Pat Adams, duped again.

Mookie Monster,There were some NBA players by the names of Spud Webb,I think 5'7" who played guard and could dunk, and Monte Towe, who was around 5'9",I think he was with the Nuggets. If you can play, you can play.

I agree. That’s what I’ve been saying lol. At least in regards to Chandler.

It’s an inability to understand where the defender is on each pass. They just can’t construe the situation correctly. I swear, I look and say “no,” then here goes the pass and the free layup on the other end. Over and over again. JJJ still does this too often and I’m just blown away. Also, passing to guys that have very little open lanes. They see an opening, but the chance of completion is extremely low.

That’s what I see, too. It’s like a QB waiting to find an open WR. He passes the ball but the defender has closed on the receiver causing an int.
I’m surprised JJJ and others turn it over. I’m too tired to pull up the individual stats but we won’t advance far in the tourney with this many turnovers.

Definitely get sloppy and loose with the ball way too often. It surprises me because Barnes preaches ball security so loudly. I’m not sure what the answer is.

Spud was fun to watch except when he played against my Tarheels when I was a kid. But he and Dominique Wilkins were an awesome tandem.
Muggsy Bogues @ 5’5 was an incredible player @ wake forest and Charlotte in the NBA.

We need JJJ to move into more of that JP Prince roll. Quit settling for 3s and become more of a slasher and play great D. His shot is pretty but for whatever reason it’s not accurate.

I agree.

I'll also add the basketball looked like a bar of soap in his hands late in the game.

Bogues was actually 5’3.
The commentators always said he was 5’4 or so.

He’s 8/22 from 3 since the LSU loss. Good for 36% from 3. If he continues to shoot 36% I’m fine with him letting them go.

I would love to see a rule change that coaches can not huddle with players unless a timeout has been called. If there is a review, players can huddle together but they have to be on opposite side of court and away from the coaches. The media TO's and coaches TO's are already enough.

Yup, and the fact Barnes continues to let him shoot it and not reign it in tells me they are confident he can continue to hit them at a solid clip. He is 2nd on the team in 3pta by a decent margin, and even missed a couple games with injury.

Keith "Mister" Jennings 5' 7" PG for ETSU played 3 seasons for Golden State Warriors. I had told a buddy that Ziegler reminded me of Mister Jennings. 4th all-time scorer for ETSU and averaged 9 assist a game one season with an all-time high of 19. I see ZZ maturing every game like Jennings he will be a 4-year player and dominate the conference by his 4th year unless he goes portal or overseas.

Fulky did a similar thing later and got the foul call. However, I think it should be illegal for a shooter to “try” to get fouled while shooting. It’s essentially a flop. Same goes for in football when they hang a deep ball down the sideline, simply in hopes of getting a PI call
Fulky made the shot though if I remember correctly.

Yes. He did. But it was pretty obvious that he was “trying” to get the foul called
Yeah. Maybe it’s a personal thing, but I only really get offended by foul hunting if the offensive player is focused on drawing the contact to the detriment of making the shot. Sometimes you see guys jumping into the defender and tossing the ball only sorta in the general direction of the rim and I hate that. If you can get the contact and the shot I don’t mind it as much.
