Bryce Thompson was named to the FWAA's freshman all-american team. Previous Vol winners include Trey Smith, Derek Barnett, and AJ Johnson.

I find it pretty impressive that Pruitt was able to take a low four star wide receiver who enrolled in the summer and turn him into a freshman All-American corner. He was also graded as the highest rated freshman corner by PFF. Not only that, but Alontae Taylor was right behind him in rating. I expect our defense to become one of the best in the country over the next couple of years.

Strong words, but not too far off from my own expectations. I like the secondary and linebackers, but we need some enforcers to emerge up front. Hoping some folks from the group of Savion Williams, Elijah Simmons, Darel Middleton, LeDarrius Cox, Emmit Gooden, and Greg Emerson step up but I'm in see-it-to-believe-it mode.

Our corners have a chance to be really good for the first time in a long time. Before Cam Sutton was drafted, the last CB was had drafted was Jonathan Wade in 2007. The only players drafted out of our secondary period over the last 10-11 years have been Wade, Sutton, and Eric Berry.

The offensive line and the secondary have been bad at Tennessee for a really long time. The other position groups have all gone through phases where there has actually been solid production on what was a bad team. Not the O-line and secondary though.

I remember when Butch was here and all of our freshman all-americans would regress with his "coaching." Pruitt doesn't look like he'll let that happen. Go Vols!
