Bryce Brown

That all depends if he could have picked up pass blocking schemes quick enough or not...

If Jamal Lewis couldn't do it, there is no way BB can, either. He needs two more years to develop.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see a whole lot of pt for Oku this year. He could go the way of Creer as a freshman, talented but buried in the depth chart.
I don't think he will play much this year barring major injury issues ahead of him but next year we may see alot of the combo of him and Bryce Brown, especially if one of them bulks up and the other one gets faster...JMO

With Montario Hardesty being one of the three ???

You asked, he gave you an answer. Last year, with hardesty being one of those backs, we essentially had three backs that got playing time. It'll be hardesty, brown, and poole this year.

It's just very rare for 3 backs to evenly split carries in a game and over the course of a season, that's all.

Does Oku remind anyone else of Travis Stephens? WAtching his highlight film the quick cuts he makes are insane, alot like Stephens. Sometimes it looks like the defender is falling out of his shoes trying to grab for him.

I have watched Oku's highlights. He's insanely quick, which is why I think that Lane has plans to utilize him in the same way USC used Bush. Brown will be a better version of Lendale White. IMO But I have concerns that Oku won't be able to take a lot of punishment...

Yes, in a game. But over the course of the season only having 3 active RB's does not equal plenty of depth.
Of course we all hope nobody gets hurt, but if one of them do, or God forbid two are hurt at the same time, then what ?
Oku could redshirt, and we could be ok. I'd bet on that not happening though.
I wonder if Kevin Cooper will get any carries...

Better version of Lendale White would be impressive. He is the PAC-10's all time leader in TDs you know.

Thats a good quest. I say Yes

I am huge fan of Hardesty and love his style of reckless abandon running... but history isn't on his side for staying healthy all year. If any of the other three gets injured then Oku will more than likely have to play.

OTOH, Rivals ranked him as one of the best backs in space. CLK could have a package of plays for him. He's a potential homerun threat.

Any ideas yet as to what number Brown and Oku will be wearing? I know McCoy wears #5 but at USC PC lets kids duplicate numbers if they're on different sides of the ball. Anxious to see if Kiff does the same thing

Guys, senority is out of the picture. Fulmer was KEY on playing senority players over the top talented ones. If BB comes in, and is dominant, just because he is Freshman, doesnt mean he would be named starter. Kiffin is going to play his best players, bar none. If that's BB, then expect him to see the most carries this year....Freshman or not!

Its not going to matter too much because after TW RS and assuming BB leaves after his JR year, which is likely, we will still have Oku as a SR and TW as a JR the year after. Add in who ever we get between then and now and we'll be fine. I see no NEED for Oku to RS...

I like this thread. One of the few areas where I feel we have above average SEC talent.

I don't see OKU redshirting now, 4 backs throughout a season is not a obsurd number. Oku will be the specialty/kick returner of the group.

IDK if this means anything but NCAA2010 has Brown's jersey number as 5. BTW, he is the fastest back on the team in that game FWIW.
