July 14, 2009 - ESPN's Chris Low reports that incoming Tennessee running back Bryce Brown has impressed players and staff with not only his talent, but with his work ethic and maturity as well during off-season workouts.

Brown, whom we have listed a national sleeper, could emerge as much more than that should he find a way to steal carries earmarked for Montario Hardesty.

That one made me laugh!
Looks like he's doin alright!

I think we all knew Bryce Brown was going to be getting his share of carries this season....

That all depends if he could have picked up pass blocking schemes quick enough or not...

Dude we don't have Fulmer coaching anymore. Brown will get a lot of touches this year. Think A. Peterson at Oklahoma his frosh year. Start him off spliting carries until he just starts taking the carries from the other back.

Obviously you don't detect sarcasm as well as you run the 40...

I'm excited to see Bryce Brown this year....Between Brown, Hardesty, and Oku we should have an excellent running game as long as the OL stays healthy and don't get bit by the injury bug as the WRs have

Don't sleep on Tauren Poole. This zone blocking scheme seems to suit him.:good!:

I think Poole and Brown will emerge as the best backs this season with Hardesty being used often and Oku for occasional plays and passes out of the backfield as well as special teams.

Yes, thank you I had forgotten about him, he looked good in the Spring as well...Kiffin also liked what he has seen out of him so far...It's funny that we are seeing some of these guys make the best out of the opportunity that was presented to them with Kiffin and it paying off, and this is not a bash on Fulmer, but I kind of get the impression these guys done the same thing with him and had nothing to show for it but maybe its just me

I don't think it's just you. It's been talked about for a while now that Fulmer had predetermined depth charts.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see a whole lot of pt for Oku this year. He could go the way of Creer as a freshman, talented but buried in the depth chart.

Anyone think Oku will redshirt?

IMO Toney William's injury pretty much forced that possibility right out the window. I was thinking he might get red-shirted previously but he will be needed for depth now. It seems to me like Brown is more SEC ready than Oku.

Even still i think he red shirts. we still have plenty of depth. Brown, Pool, Hardesty

Dont forget Tauren poole! BB,MH,TP is a really good rotation if they stay healthy then Oku has a real big possibility at RS!It would prob. be best for him!

Haha, I can't believe I forgot him! I really liked him at the spring game. I thought he showed excellent vision, was shifty, and ran with good power. I'm not sure... Was it him that knocked Dennis Rogan's block off during the Orange and White game? Regardless, from what information I've gleaned it's possible Oku may be used on special teams and in certain situations. I guess we'll just have to wait until fall to find out.
