if BB is starting he is the real deal then because MH and TP look to be great backs

Adrian Peterson should really pick a new nickname and new initials for that matter. You can't tell if you're talking about him, an Athletic Director, or the Associated Press.

MH ripped off huge runs against Cal when we played them in Knoxville..I remember a play where he was basically gang tackled and kept pushing and thought the play was dead and shed the DB and ran for about 40+ yrds for a td..he has the speed

Wee bit of an exaggeration...

EDIT: Just kidding. I'd watched it many times and never realized it was a like 42-yard run.

I'm your huckleberry. Name your terms.

:)

Since cash wagers on the net are notoriously hard to collect...how about avatars or sigs for a month? The winner gets his choice for the loser.

I have to say, if I lose it will be a sweet loss.:p

How quick he starts will be determined by how quick he learns blocking schemes.

Nonsense. The Offensive Linemen need to learn the blocking schemes. BB needs to learn what plays he runs left and what plays he runs right. I have a feeling he can handle that.

Pass blocking is definitely a big part of playing RB...thankfully Bryce Brown is said to be good at it though

Fair enough. But we have to set forth the terms of the wager before I sign on. The post you initially responded to said several things, and it wasn't clear which one you were referring to when you offered the wager.

I don't think I'd be willing to place my avatar on the line if BB has to break Jamal Lewis's record. But the other part -- about BB being the featured back by Fla game -- provides room to create some terms.

Would you be willing to bet that BB is the Vols leading rusher next year?

I agree with this. But I think dude meant that BB needed to actually learn the intricacies of the zone blocking scheme, which simply isn't true.

everyone needs to keep in mind that he might have been promised a start, but not likely with this staff.

I was actually referring to the Freshman record.

We could make it a 2 part wager...The sig for the freshman record and the avatar for the leading rusher.

Or...I could stop drinking and making bets I might regret later...:)

He has no chance of touching that record in a RB-by-committee situation. Which means that you would:
--definitely be giving me whatever sig you deem outlandish enough,

and I would
--only probably be able to give you an outlandish avatar in return.

So, I can't accept. I'll leave the leading rusher offer open for you. And, of course, I'm willing to consider any proposed modifications.

I hope he starts. I say that because I think for him to start he would have to be as good or better than the hype.

:) We're both off the hook.

I hope he breaks the record and leads the team. We could only be better if he managed to do both.

I think Toney Williams is overlooked by many. Don't think he will start, but I believe he gets a lot of playing time starting with the first game.

Sorry if you couldn't understand what I said. What I meant to say was if Hardesty gets hurt then will that give BB a chance to be a starter.

Who starts games is irrelevant. It's the back that finishes games who is important.

With a stable of backs like Tennessee has, not to mention the question mark that Crompton will be, 3-4 guys are likely to get 8-12 carries a piece.

Don't sleep on Toney Williams.

Hardesty's health is substantially irrelevant. It will become abundantly clear after about 10 carries that BB is on a different level than a perfectly fit and healthy Hardesty.

I can't wait to see BB in action. UT hasn't had a back in this mold since...welll...I'm too young to remember Chuck Webb, so I don't know. We've had some great power backs in Lewis and Henry, but I can't recall a UT back that could make multiple defenders miss like BB will do.

And, for the record, I have no ill will towards Hardesty whatsoever. He seems like a good guy all around.

What if your wonderboy Brown doesn't beat him out?

I think Brown will do very good here. Am I ready to put him on a pedestal? No.

Then he doesn't deserve to play. Period. I have no personal stake in Bryce Brown. I won't be any better looking or richer if he plays or doesn't play.

I just think that he *will* beat him out. I think he is more athletically gifted and natural to the position, and I think this will become obvious to all after a couple games.

Have I been wrong before? Absolutely. This is just how I see things playing out.
